Expansion?
Yep I think u guys found your next candidate.
Only if you lose UALR to the MVC.
Where is Florida Jag when you need him.
First, congrats to FGCU.

Second, No thank you.
Um they dont have any alumni. Second, they'll be available next year or the next. Third, they dont play football. Fourth, they're a long way from any current or future members (like further than NMSU is from Texas State). Fifth, did I mention no alumni.

They may reach the round of 16. But one good run with no evidence of any fan support or support when they're not winning or anything other than one or two wins in one year do not make a good candidate for our conference.

Might I suggest C-USA for FGCU? They're in a big market (although its unclear how that market can be tapped). They have as much football success as UNCC (and more NCAA wins in the last 12 years)

Hey I would welcome take them. It would make cusa a stronger b-ball conference.
FGCU is south of Fort Myers and north of Naples, a relatively small market stuck in the southwest corner of Florida.
FGCU looks to have tremendous upside, but it's still reaaaaaaaaaaaalllly early to start talking FBS membership. I think football will happen there and when it does, it could really take off, or that is to say, I don't think it's crazy to think that in ten years they could be relatively close to what FAU and FIU are now.

The Sun Belt needs to get back into Florida, FGCU looks like the only somewhat viable option, but it's still a tad early to pull the trigger. Let them decide they're definitely adding football and that they have a good plan in place, and then maybe they merit serious discussion, but for now, there is a pretty solid list of candidates, none of whom were division II two years ago.
maybe we need to add two Florida olympic schools.
Would ESPN refer to them as F_ _U?
And how attractive will FGCU be when Enfield is picked up by another program?

Are there any SB teams that recruit in Florida? Why do we need to be there? There's no need for us to be there unless there is a proper program for us to take.

Lets face it. Football rules in the SBC. Focus on that as far as expansion goes.

For basketball, lets ban teams playing non-Div I and institute a minimum average RPI (based upon last years rankings) for OOC.

Georgia Southern has a proud history of getting players from Florida (Tracy Ham, Jayson Foster) and have never had a conference foe in that state. We do play the Gators this season though. COGS

Fully agree. I'm for every school in the league required to have a football program. UALR to MVC and FGCU to coosa. As far as UTA, well I think it won't be long before they have football. Good luck to FGCU in the tourney.

You are closer to Jacksonville than FGCU. Do you recruit in SW Florida?

Because CUSA is in the business of taking non-football schools? You've also contradicted yourself. Suggesting that CUSA should take FGCU, since we took UNCC before they had played a down of football, but you then say that you're okay with UTA because you expect them to have football soon, how is that any different? I don't expect either of CUSA or the Sun Belt to give FGCU a serious look until they've already announced football, at which point they'll be no different than any other start up.

Your Jags have eighteen players from Florida, it's the only state other than Alabama that is in double digits on your football roster. Troy has 24 players from Florida on their roster, also by far their second heaviest recruited state.

How many of them aren't from the Florida Panhandle, though? Many Floridians are essentially local players from the Mobile-Pensacola market. They're staying at home. So wait a minute, the league is already in Florida- with South Alabama.
