Quote:Fox Sports will have a news conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday to announce Butler, Xavier and Creighton as members of a revamped Big East Conference, according to an Indianapolis Star source familiar with the negotiations.

Butler president James Danko and athletic director Barry Collier will be in New York for the announcement.

A statement from the school is expected soon. The Atlantic 10 is not expected to release a statement until Wednesday.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Xavier president Father Michael Graham will be in New York for the announcement. The Omaha World-Herald reported that officials with Fox Sports Media Group and Madison Square Garden will also be there.

Creighton invited the public to a “special event in the history of the University and Creighton athletics” Wednesday morning at the team’s arena.
Is this finally going to be the announcement?

We've had several false announcements by the New York Post and ESPN tossing a few other names into the picture for the 10th spot.

That should be a nice, well paid league.
no word from st louis?
An announcement on the Vernal Equinox. I wonder if that's an ominous sign, or a good omen...

Is the BE possibly just going to stop at 10?

No mention of moving to 12 so far.

I don't know, but it sure seems like 10 for the upcoming season then 12 starting with '14-'15.

No kidding. What an add St Louis would be.

10 for this year it sounds like. At least, only 3 announced tomorrow.

I think most fans will agree SLU should be the 11th team. The debate is going to be for 12, whether it be Dayton, Richmond, VCU, or a wild card.
Saint Louis and Dayton in 2014-15 is what I have heard. Don't have to pay as a big fee to the A-10 for leaving and it gives the A-10 time to reload.

Only if they are announced before June 30 of this year.

I hope they do. This is an awesome conference. Like when the BE first started out.

Why wouldn't the Big East then announce all 5 schools at once? 2014-15 is only one more year away.

I'm going with the theory the Big East has decided to just stick at 10 schools and not push on to 12.
VCU would make sense as an add.
I'm a bit curious as to how final the 12 schools are/will be. I've always heard 10 for next year and then 2 more for the following season. And St. Louis and Dayton seem to be the leading candidates. I can understand focusing on next year first and announcing those now. And its possible there's still some internal debate on the 12th school (I'd have to imagine St. Louis is in). So we may not here about 11 and 12 for a little while.

Does a little while mean we won't hear until June 30th?

There could be a wildcard school or 2 in the mix. VCU? Gonzaga? UConn?

If Dayton is left out could they find refuge in the Missouri Valley? I'm not sure that an A10 without St. Louis, Xavier, Butler and VCU makes any sense for the Flyers? They would make for an excellent replacement school in the MVC for Creighton.
I wonder if they will say if the league will move to 12 next year. I think we need to add at least 1 school on the east coast to try to balance it out.

It's a solid basketball league. I think St. Louis and Dayton should be next, and the final two schools invited.

Looking good.
What is the A-10 going to do? It is losing 2 more teams to go along with Charlotte next season...are they bringing in George Mason? And who else?

And what about the Valley's replacement for Creighton? Are they still talking Denver?
