Have we got word on when practices will be held? Morning, afternoon or night? I assume they'll be open to the public again????

It'd be nice if we had a sports info dept/website that actually posted this info sooner than the day of the first practice 05-stirthepot01-lauramac2
I'm sure they're just not used to people wanting to come watch practice.
Before I retired and moved from Crestwood to Cropwell, I attended practices regularly after school on my way home from WEHS. There were many of us then although many were team parents. When Coach Callaway began closing practices, I guess many of us who were "just fans", kind of got out of the habit. Practice is where I met some who write on this board (like BlazerDawg).

I hope the spring practices will be open and the days / times will be published in advance for all to see.
Attending the open practices played a large part in getting season tickets. Closing those practices played a large part in getting rid of those tickets

Which just says that you're not one of the hundreds of us who have stood there watching them through the years, with the exception of the XCNC closed practice era.

NIL call away close it to the public

This is true. I don't have a lot of vivid memories of the Watson Brown era. I was too young. I came of age during the Callaway era, and he never really inspired me to get juiced in the offseason. I was really starting to get into year-round football hardcore - following recruiting, watching spring games - leading into the 2011-2012 season, with Bryan and Pat Shed coming back. We were projected to go to a bowl game. Oops.
I am looking forward to seeing some spring ball as well. I suspect that we will get opportunities to watch some if not most of the practices.
IIRC last year all spring practices were open from start to finish it was just the final fall practices that were closed. Any times announced yet???
Cant wait. I will be in town to watch some this spring.
So far, no schedule of days and times. I hope this is made public soon to allow for advance planning.

If times aren't being released, it's because the football office either hasn't completely set them yet or they haven't given them to the SID office yet. The dates (not times) are public.

My guess is that a lot of it will be finalized before the spring practice press conference which is Monday.

Time may not be critical to planning if one is driving in everyday for work or lives across town from campus. For those for whom it means driving 70 or 80 miles round-trip to see it, time is important. One does not want to arrive @ 2:00 for a practice that was run @ 10:00 or vice-versa, especially when one is paying a $15 to $20 "fuel surcharge" to get there.

I never said time wasn't critical to planning.

I'm saying that I'm not sure if the football office has even finalized the practice times internally yet.
Why the lateness if that's the case? Spring practice starts next Wed the 27th does it not???

This football office is pretty tight-lipped with information until right before it needs to go out. I bet at least the first two weeks of times will be released on Monday.
So they're going to keep that info from fans so the fans can't make plans till the last minute? :withstupid: 03-banghead

As somebody that has dealt directly in trying to get information from the football offices (including practice times/interview schedules), I'm just speaking from experience.

I doubt they'd keep info from fans for any malicious purpose. I doubt the football staff is really concerned with the fans with spring practice coming up in a week, especially after last season.

They might not have the schedule finalized. Classes are still going on, there's a lot of maneuvering that needs to be done. Or they may just be saving it so that there's something newsworthy for the press conference on Monday.
I'm not meaning to say they're being nefarious in not announcing times but it's kinda alienating to fan base that you're trying to build to not announce things till so late. I know it's not your fault & I see it every day in many depts across campus but the culture needs to change if they want to build a fan base.
