If the MAC and CUSA raid us again, shouldn't we just pull the bowl slots for those conferences out of our bowls?

1) Go Daddy isn't owned by USA, but it is owned by the community in Mobile. I hear the A-12 is looking for bowl tie ins.

2) Isn't the NO Bowl controlled by the Sun Belt? Do we really want 3rd/4th pick out of a conference that had 3 bowl eligible teams last year? I think a SEC 11 (they have 14 members) with a backup from the MWC might be nicer than Rice at this point. Tulane is no longer in CUSA.

Seriously. What do you guys think?
I don't know.

The MAC hasn't raided us. I am fine with them. In fact, I would not object to giving them the other New Orleans slot.

I'm fine with them until they raid us. But if they do.....

I see no advantage to the MAC... Why would anyone in the belt want to be in the MAC... MAC schools have horrible attendance and would be played in FREEZInG temps. They have a couple more bowls. That's the only advantage.

What does Tulane have to do with it? In the 12 year history of the bowl, they've never played in it.

Point taken, but it removes the rationale for CUSA having a tie to the bowl in New Orleans. That's the larger point.
No Sun Belt teams are joining the MAC ever. The end.

The NO Bowl wants UL every year ---Need that to be our final game each year but it is a shame that we have to share all the profit we make!!!

The Cajun fan base is a passionate one and knows how to travel, tailgate and party as well as anyone, but I think stagnancy will set in for both sides if it were an every year thing. Don't get me wrong, the proximity is great and if you were going to be "stuck" with one bowl destination indefinitely, NOLA is as good as any, but I still thing you guys will find yourself desiring some variety. I had a blast in Mobile and I'm sure you guys would take big numbers and have an awesome time there as well.

No insider info, but I feel confident that if the C-USA definitively were to tell WKU they are not getting in, WKU would pursue the MAC.

Travel is actually not bad to several schools and academically, several schools in the MAC are our benchmarks or aspiring benchmarks.

And the only reason for that is because they have been playing Division 1 football since the 50's. Look how fast we have matched their level already. Just a decade and we are at the least their equal.

For WKU, leaving the SBC for the MAC means

1) No significant increase in revenue
2) Losing ties to traditional recruiting areas
3) Tying oneself to a conference that is not an improvement on the Belt if you stay.
4) There are more bowl ties. In Boise. In Detroit.
5) There are better academics in the MAC. But unless your conference has the name is Ivy, it really doesn't mean anything

You really want to play in Buffalo, Ypsilanti, and DeKalb in the fall? For a chance to go to Boise or Detroit in December? Do you really think that games with EMU, WMU, BGSU, Akron, Buffalo, etc., are going to provide any more excitement than the Belt teams?

The MAC doesn't need to expand. Admitting you will end up costing them money in all likelihood. I think WKU is headed to CUSA. I don't see the MAC as a realistic possibility right now. Not because they're better or you're worse but because it makes no sense financially.

Wow, it's good for WKU that you don't make their AD decisions. Leave the Sun Belt for the MAC?!! 03-lmfao What's next, is Alabama going to leave the SEC for the Big East? Hmmm...?

The MAC is a better conference than the Sun Belt. I don't want WKU in it, but it's better.

Well, I dissagree. See how easy it is to make a statement like that? You declaring the MAC to be better doesn't make it so.

The funniest thing about it all is we have only been playing FBS football as a Conference since 2001. The Mid-American Conference has been at it since 1955.
mac is a more stable conference than the sun belt, not necessarily better. They benefit from not having a "CUSA" basically on top of them. Going to the MAC would be chasing stability/survival, not necessarily looking for improvement, imo.
Yes, the MAC has stability where we do not at the moment. So why is the MAC so stable? Well, the last team that was even approached by another Conference lately was Marshall I believe. Where are they now?

The MAC is more stable because they have fewer teams other Conferences are interested in.

The MAC doesn't have to compete with another conference underneath its' AQ. Its AQ conference is not as good as the SEC either.

The MAC has lost three teams to other conferences. Marshall to CUSA, Temple to the A-12, and UCF to CUSA. Most likely, if UMass shows a pulse in football (which is seriously in question), they will be gone too. A lesson to the MAC, every time you expand outside your footprint, you create instability.

I don't see anyone taking the good programs from the MAC Miami (OH) or Central Michigan or Northern Illinois. They fit together.
