After leaving Tulsa this morning, ECU's flight had to make an emergency landing in Houston where Shamarr Bowden was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after suffering from chest pains and going unconscious according to an ECU message board. Shamarr you're in my prayers!
How did you find this out?

Hope for all the best. Tough being on an airplane and having a medical emergency.
Wow, hopefully it's not too serious and he makes a full recovery.
Holy crap! Godspeed Mr. Bowden.
Hope everything is ok! In my thoughts!
Any update at all on Shamarr's condition?

He was released from the hospital in Houston and is on a flight headed back to Greenville. He is scheduled to see a Cardiologist. But overall from what I hear he is doing better.
I wish him God's grace...

Glad to hear it!
Wow, our play against Tulsa made him sick.

j/k

Glad he is feeling better though.
How in the hell does a plane leaving from Tulsa, going to NC get diverted to TX for a medical emergency?? Seems a bit out of the way...

Maybe it was an American, Southwest or Delta Flight headed towards Dallas, Houston, New Orleans or Atlanta.

Believe ECU Basketball generally flies commercial (i.e. no charter flights).

I would think most basketball programs not in a power conference fly commercial. You're only talking about 15 players and about 5-6 staff. Seems like a waste of money to charter a flight.

It was a Southwest Airline that they were on. ECU has only chartered maybe 3 or 4 planes the whole season.

No, Memphis always flies charter. Started with Calipari. Justification is that the kids can get to games and back home and attend classes a lot easier. They have always felt that the money was well spent.

Memphis is fortunate to average give or take 15K a game so that plays a factor. I would bet the house everyone else in CUSA flies commercial a MAJORITY of the time....maybe a charter once or twice a year but not every game. NinerNational is pretty accurate with his statement but off a few...13 or or so players, 5 coaches, 1 trainer and maybe student trainer, a manager or 2, a sports information director, and 1 or 2 radio guys. When I was at USM a typical travel party for basketball was around 25
