Full Version: The Positive Thoughts Thread (please add)

In an attempt to see if this can catch on, this thread is dedicated to ONLY positive comments about our new conference:

1. We have the opportunity to build something new from the ground up.
2. UCF, UC, ECU, UConn, USF, HOU have all had strong FB success in recent years and will form a highly competitive league in that sport. Other programs are building.
3. Memphis, UConn, UC, Temple will form a multiple bid Hoops league with SMU and others in a building phase.
4. The ESPN deal promises heavy exposure for our programs, many of whom have never had this opportunity.
5. Most of these schools have invested heavily in facilities over the past few years and currently.
6. The league is located in great American cities (New Orleans, Memphis, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, etc...) - most of which could host our BBall conference tournament.
7. The league has great coaches (Tuberville, Cronin, Ollie, Pastner, Dunphy, O'Leary).
8. The league actually has fairly strong brands.
9. The league has hired a professional agency to handle the re-brand.
10. The league will have a championship football game - and the winner will have a strong chance to play in a BCS bowl.
11. If a league FB team goes undefeated, it will have a chance to play in the 4-team playoff - or at least a good argument for that.
12. Add your own - and please - no negative comments.
The new conference is loaded with potiential. I can see ECU taking advantage of this opportunity this time around instead of our screw up of underfunding basketball when we joined CUSA 1.0 in the mid 90s. This can be a very strong conference in football, m/w basketball and baseball.
I'm looking forward to playing USF, Cincy & Temple again. And having Temple, Cincy & UConn on the schedule should really help our hoops program get more attention. We get a fair amount of play in the local media during football season, but when basketball rolls around its nothing but State, Dook & UNCle.
I think this league has a lot of potential to develop into a premier women's basketball league.

And no, I am not joking. With Pat Summit out of the game, and UCONN in the conference, there is a whole new window of opportunity for the rest of us.

Memphis' women are getting a new training facility. I hope other schools capitalize on this opening as well.
