The ex CUSA teams ended up in a new conference with basically the same teams. All they really did was change the name of the conference. Once UCONN and CINCY leave they will most likely add more teams from the conference they tried to get away from. In the end all that will have change is the name and not the teams in the conference. The same can be said for the teams leaving the Sunbelt.
Pretty much. The only winners will be teams called up from fcs.

So ex CUSA teams are ending up in America 12 (which is the same as CUSA). Ex SBC teams are ending up in CUSA (which is the same as SBC). What does that mean for us remaining in the SBC?

True in premise, but there are likely CUSA schools who will never see an invite to the new conference, just as there are Sun Belt schools who will never see CUSA invites.
C-USA teams went through a lot of trouble to dump USM and UAB.

I equate it to shaking hands with someone who just wiped their ass with that hand.

If UAB and USM had of joined the Sunbelt when they were asked to this all could have been avoided.

I feel for the SBC.

Having to deal with App State and Georgia Southern posters on a regular basis indefinitely? I shudder at the thought.

If it's any consolation, mathenis89 will hang around the SBC board after WKU leaves :)

Wasn't going to happen. CUSA schools that are picked over will continue to have their choice of Sun Belt members. Why join the Sun Belt when you can systematically pick its best members?
CUSA East is the Sunbelt plus a start-up football team and a transition FCS team. UNT is the only ex Belt team that made out good.

Four of the schools you listed as past members never played football in the Sun Belt.

....and realistically, that SUN BELT was an entirely different Sun Belt than the current Sun Belt, not just because we didn't have football. That original Sun Belt was in some ways like the C7(I guess it'll be the BigEast) of today.

2 of those 4 have never played FBS football which makes it worse. Those 2 happen to be in the East with 4 other ex belt teams.

Yep, no startup ever has or ever will amount to anything...03-shhhh

Getting back to the original premise, MT was never in Sun Belt with ODU, UNCC, La Tech or UAB. Pretty sure FAU never was either, FIU only was with maybe La Tech. There may be a lot of members who were once in the Sun Belt, but they represent different eras.
