stop with the stupid comparisons and false equivalencies?
Lets clear the air with regard to what each of us mean when we make certain comments. Using an extreme to rebut an argument makes us all look stupid.
So, here's a short list of stupid stuff people say after a statement is made they disagree with but have no facts to back up how they believe.
IMATY says: We should cut entitlement spending as part of an approach to a balanced budget.
Lefties say: So, you want kids to starve and old people to be homeless?
Sensible response(IMO): How, specifically, would you reduce entitlement spending without affecting those who need help the most?
IMATY says: I don't like how Obama spends millions on vacations and traveling around the world and I think that money could be better spent in other areas.
Lefties say: BUSH DID IT. You're a hypocrite.
Senesible response(IMO): You're probably right. All Presidents have done it and it could be curbed a little. Lets discuss what you think could be eliminated from the Presidential travel budget and why.
Lefties like to argue with people on here with the misconception that they're arguing with Republicans. More often than not this isn't the case. During the campaign when we would attack Obama lefties immediately attacked Romney. Why? Who knows. Most of us weren't Romney supporters. This is just an example of lefties arguing with someone that exists only in their minds. Its easier that way. Both sides do it. Me included.
I welcome comments from our lefties on what they say that elicits a response that is light years away from their original question.
Its time we get back to sensible discussion. I'm probably more guilty than most on here and I'll make an effort towards to those who also make an effort.
