Whenever one tries to figure which way a teenage player will lean, one might remember when a contractor who was a rabid Bama fan got the contract for expanding B-D Stadium and his son, a top high school player that year went to AUBURN. It isn't always who asks or invites but who the kid "likes best" when the decision is to be made.

what about this kid any word?

I doubt he comes to UAB if for no other reason than we would have 4 small (under 6') guards - Watkins and Watts for 2013; Calhoun for 2013...
145 pounds? He needs a sandwich.
JC is pretty good, he was the incredible freshman at John Carroll then transferred to Wenonah, but they have better players than him.
One of my best friends Malek Grant is going the JUCO route so maybe when he's done with a year or two we could get him here's his stats http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/NMOWTKf...-grant.htm he reminds me so much of Rod Rucker, but Malek is a lefty who can jump like Jekore and Ovie could.
Coleman reminds me of Joe Jackson. Small and skinny but a very impressive ball handler and passer and scores when necessary.

Yeah that answer should cross Bama off the list immediately.

That's why I listed that specific question and answer.

Slaps Auburn, too...
The question has to be asked - Do you want to play 2nd fiddle at the school you attend? Do you want to go to a school that respects & values basketball or do you want to go to a school that talks about football functions during a basketball game?

While I like both sports, each should be given the recognition it deserves.
If we ink Calhoun I bet we get Riley.
That's my hope.

One could say that at AU & UA, they do now.

Johnson Central 61, Pike-ville 57 (15th): Shane Hall had 17 points and eight rebounds and Johnson Central held off the Panthers in the semifinals. Ray Kasongo had 15 points and 14 rebounds for Pikeville.

This was on march 1st.

IU, UF, & BYU have yet too offer. His top choices should change drastically as he gets offers from the high major schools.

Watts and Calhoun are more shooting guard than point. Watkins would be his only real competition at PG. Besides, we've had success with 2 sub-6 footers on the court at the same time before (Bush/Finley).

Exactly what I thought. No room or need for him on the team, but he's a great athlete who I would like to see succeed.

I know I might be a little late on my response, but this post just kinda made me want to reply. Brandon I know you so nothing against you at all but I wanted to clear up a couple things. First of all, Justin is easily the best player on wenonah. He has offers from UCONN, FLST, Kansas St and more. His speed and ball handling are unteachable and it's probably why he will go to a high profile school. On Malek Grant, he is going to Faulkner St and he is nothing like Ovie or Jekore. Dunked 4 times this year. He is a 6"4 center and will never be in the category of UAB guys. I also wanted to mention Justin and Jarvis's friendship which could be an undercover factor. They have played on the Ice together for years and Jarvis's dad is the coach. Their games compliment each other amazingly so maybe it'll help lure him. I also know Jordan Swing talked with Jarvis about UAB a week ago before #Final48 and that most likely sped up his commit.
Lots of XCMD's were JUCO, same as right now with Faz and Rod. If Malek can get his stuff together he could easily play a Rod Rucker position, and yea he can dunk like Ovie and Jekore, you ever been to the Grant's house and watch them play during thier family pickups? The kid is a flat out stud. When was the last time MBHS had anyone who could dunk besides Patrick Claybon? Of course our style of play is not for dunks since we haven't had anyone who could hahah. http://rivals.yahoo.com/basketballrecrui...man-121770 Justin isn't being recruited by any of the teams you mentioned. Also, Justin had 12 points, 10 turnovers, 8 assists, 7 steals, 6 rebounds, not bad but that T/O ratio is bad against MB while Isaiah Maston had 22 points, and Derrunya Wilson 15 points, 12 rebounds who is a Mi$$take recruit. Justin is only popular because he had that great freshman year at John Carroll. Other than that he had A LOT of help getting that 3 peat.

I don't think you understand. No I haven't been to the Grants house to watch their family pickups. But I do know he only had 4 dunks all year. I went to every mountain brook game too and he wouldn't ever be able to play with a caliber of UAB. And on Justin you are so far off!!!!! He has all of those offers I mentioned plus those to Auburn, Arkansas, Bama, Georgia and more. I watched him play 6 times this year. Just because he played bad against Mountain Brook which was the only game you saw him play. Don't even talk about the freshman year at JC, he is 10x better now and he is a 4 star. I don't think you know as much as you think.
