I think we may be tied for the final opening round bye with Tulsa & Tulane with us having the edge by beating both of them.

Correct?

I think a victory over SMOO combined with one over UCF on Wednesday might seal an opening round bye for us.
We are currently in a 3-way tie for the 5 seed with Tulsa and Tulane (both of which we beat).

Remaining games for each team:

UAB: Smoo, UCF, @Mempiss
Tulsa: Tulane, Smoo, @Rice
Tulane: @Tulsa, @ECU, Houston

Tulsa definitely has the easiest road and could conceivably finish 9-7, ekeing out the 5 seed over UAB and Tulane. At this point, it may be a blessing in disguise for us to get bumped to the 6 seed, play a tune-up game against Rice, and then face the 3-seed (likely UTEP) in the quarters.

Right now, the only way to clinch the bye is to win out. If Tulsa and Tulane each lose one more (one of them has to lose today), then we can clinch with wins against Smoo and UCF.

Now if you really wanted to have fun with wacky scenarios:

We are still alive for the 3 seed. It could happen IF:

*We win out;
*ECU loses 2 of its last 3 (@USM, Tulane, Marshall);
*UTEP also loses 2 of its last 3 (@Rice, Mempiss, @Smoo)

Incredibly unlikely but still possible nonetheless. COGS
I think we would be better served as a 6 seed but I could be and often am wrong.....LOL
I do too...although it would be interesting to see us face Lebo for the 3rd time in the quarterfinals. I would much rather be the 6 also...
Didn't realize Tulsa had it that easy. No Memphis, no USM, no UCF.
Yeah--it will be interesting to see how the conference schedule gets reworked. Because of the relative weakness of the West, it's always been a given that one of them will win enough games by default (10 games vs West opponents) to get a 1st round bye. Whereas teams like us have been forced to play the current #1, #2, and #4 teams twice already, accounting for 6 of our 7 conference losses (F you, Houston 03-banghead)
A first round game is the best route to a winning record as well.
Well Tulsa's win over Tulane really puts them in the driver's seat...unless we win out. Given our gritty play as of late I wouldn't count us out!
