AHHH and Louisville is going to lose as well.
The Hall lost which will help us...
Marquette is an absolute lock for the tourney with wins over UCONN and PITT. So that's 6 from the Big East that are locks. UC has to beat Seton Hall on their senior night. A must win!
Syracuse with their win over UL still only has 1 top 50 win (us)
yeah... and Dick Vitale said their one "quality win" Cincinnati was questionable....

does that mean because we're weak, or because we came back and kicked their ass?

Here we go again with the must wins. So I guess if UC loses to Seton Hall and then beats Villanova or West Virginia they are out.

I know UC has no chance of beating West Virginia or Syracuse like they had no chance of beating Syracuse.
UC wins 1 more regular season game I could care less what Seton Hall, Marquette, or Syracuse do.
Sorry you disagree Hoops. Yes the Louisville game was a must win. Yes the Syracuse game was a must win. Of course, Providence was a must win game. And yes Seton Hall is a must win. AK has said as much, Hicks has too. Unless you are banking on beating Nova or W.V., Seton Hall on the road is a must win game (assumintg a win in one of our 2 remaining home games is a tough way to plan on getting into the tournament).

Of course, beat Nova and its a moot point...we are playing with house money at that point.
Don't accuse me of not looking for a silver lining...

Marquette's win should push them into the top 25 in RPI (they were 27th). If so, that would make us 2-4 against the RPI top 25...so yeah, it could look better on a resume.

I always thought if you lose a MUST win than your season is over.
I guess we have 2 different definitions of a MUST win.

Quote:If Andy Kennedy's projections are correct, the University of Cincinnati Bearcats still need one more victory to earn an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament.

My stance hasn't changed in the last 3 weeks. UC needs to get to 8-8 in the Conference for a bid. Last I checked UC had 3 regular season games left to get that win. I am willing to bet Vegas will have UC a bigger dog @Seton Hall than at home vs. WVU.

I am not ready to write UC's season off if they lose to Seton Hall in a "Must Win" when they have 2 games left and the Big East tourney. I am not assuming UC will win either one of their final 2 games just like I am not assuming they will lose their final 2 games. I am just enjoying watching this team play.

I'll side with AK on this one if you don't mind.

I guess last night wasn't a must win for Louisville either because it is concievable that they could run the table against UCONN, Marquette & West Virginia to close out the regular season.
haven't you learned yet... Rath is never wrong.

This game is not "Must win" BUT, it's the easiest of the three opportunities at "must wins"

to me Must Win means if you don't win it you are out.

and we can still be IN if we lose it, because we have two more opportunities.

again... Kennedy calls it a "must win" for motivational purposes. AK would call every game a must win.

I can prove your theory wrong.

IF we lose and beat WVU? We're still in right? Right. SO, this game obviously isn't a MUST WIN.

now if you want to say this game is really important, or this game would solidify our bid, then I'd be with you.
Dan,

lmfao
Rath doesn't like it when he's proven wrong.

If the best chance you have at getting at least one victory is beating the least formidable of the remaining three, then by all means, Seton Hall is a must win. Of course, I think none of us are dumb enough to believe that if we lose to Seton, but win one of the two others, that we won't get in. That's pretty much implied.

Glad to see you agree with Kennedy and I. ;-)

Quote:That puts Rutgers in the driver's seat for that last potential BE at large bid. Look at their record and their remaining schedule. They will finish with a better conference record than
Best Chance win!

For starters, did you listen to the post game wrap up with AK?

And yes I see you have thrown that out there for the second time in a week. Laugh at the Rutgers comment from way back but at the time that was a valid concern. UC barely beat them at home, we were only one game up on them in the standings, they won against Louisville and recently beat Marquette. The rest of their schedule was a joke...4 games versus South Florida and St. Johns. They have had big time injury issues as well since the UC game and lost 2 games that they had no business losing. I don't regret those statements back then one bit. Honestly, I am pleased to have been wrong.

Should I start keeping an archive of all your predictions and analysis?
Oh, and they will still finish 7-9 in conference with a 17-12 regular season record. I think my original post said I was afraid they may finish 8-8 which could put them ahead of us if we finished 7-9 which could pose problems for us if we needed the selection committee to leapfrog a team ahead of us in the conference standings. I also said something to the effect that if they found a way to win 2 games at MSG they had a chance to finish with 20 wins.

As of right now, looks like I was at least in the ballpark, doesn't it?
