Thank you for showing some class. I'll understand that if the ACC comes calling, you go. But in the meantime I appreciate your public commitment to this new league:

Quote:"We are very cohesive, and it's wonderful working with strong presidents from such fine research institutions," Herbst said in an email. "Everyone will need to show some patience, but it is clear that we are a great fit to this new league, one that will be ambitious in some novel ways. We will be a powerful conference and one to be proud of; lots of great competition ahead. Do please hold tight, have patience, and give Warde [Manuel], our coaches, and our students your full support. This is the best way fans help and enjoy."

Still waiting for a similar quote from Santa Ono.
Yes, I saw that. Of course anyone is gone if ACC calls, but it was good to see someone at least making an attempt to make it work in the interim.

He's too busy sending out cards to all the ACC prez's begging for an invite.
What she says is true - UConn is a great fit for this conference. We're also a good fit for the ACC or Big 10. You can plug us in anywhere and we'd fit okay; we wouldn't be a drag on any conference.

I'm happy here.
Listen we all know that our schools would bail if the invite came today to go elsewhere, but we also know that this is the best spot till that move happens.

I just don't see why ANY of our schools leaders can't come out and publicly show support for the league as long as they are in it and not have to say anything publicly about going elsewhere.

Its dumb business we all know it. You can just say we will always be on the lookout for better opportunities but we are going to work to make it the best conference as long as its our home.
that sounds like the most professional approach Cubanbull.

problem is...seems like greed has gotten in the way of professionalism with all of this stuff.
Our last President (Greg Williams) chaired the Big East search committee and worked full time (neglecting his duties at UC) to keep the Big East together and in a position to get a terrific TV contract. While our school and president carried the banner, everyone else spent the time courting other conferences and it blew up in our face.
We were left without the conference and TV deal we worked so hard for and lost our President because of this stress.

Our new President, Santa Ono, was the Provost under Williams and knows better than to make the same mistake. I understand why our conference mates may be unhappy with our lack of commitment, but you have to understand that WE were the ones who were the most committed and put all of our effort into building the Big East a short year ago. All it left us with is less money and no regional rivals. We won't be burned again.

Oh please lets not go there. Your school was not the only one doing it. Our President has been trashed from both sides for her support of the league and representing it in many facets
