Purdue: Don't be surprised if Darrell Hazell targets UAB offensive line coach John Peterson as a replacement for Jim Bollman. Hazell and Peterson coached together at Ohio State.

Would hate to lose him. I know his son, Cole, really loves UAB so maybe that can be a factor.
Our team goes 3-9 and our staff has just about as much turnover as a bcs bowl team. Guess that shows coach mcgee is doing pretty well at evaluating his staff before hand. If only we had money to keep the coaches. It's good to know our coaches are getting interest to move onto bigger things, but we have replaced some coaches with grad assistants and others with very little experience. I do like that the staff will be young and can relate to young men. As long as theyre not so young that they could still play college ball. Peterson would be a big loss.

To be fair, it could also mean that the coaches are jumping ship before they get stuck here. 03-shhhh

03-banghead dang, I was trying to be positive and didn't think about that. They must've saw our ranking in the "Ranking the Coaching Jobs in College Football for 2013" article. 03-lmfao

With the possible exception of Helton to WKU, which is probably lateral, everybody else I can think of has been kicked upstairs.

Brohm left to be an offensive coordinator at a Sun Belt school and move his family to the fascinating city of Bowling Green, KY and took a pay cut to do it.

Sigler straight up resigned and he was the coach of one of our most successful units.
Sigler had no choice but to resign. I will leave it at that.

That can be debated both ways, as Brohm may have seen the move to WuK U as the fastest way to the HC job. And Jeff is a Louisville guy and in his early 40s, so I assume he and his wife have smaller kids. Where is his wife from ? Maybe it is a "move nearer to the grandparents issue".
Since the speculation is that Petrino will be one and done most likely at WKU with a good year and his family is in the area I tend to go with Phil on that one instead of the Titanic scenario.
I'm just presenting the other side of possibility.

It's as much as a jump to assume that it's such great hiring as it is to think there could be defecting from UAB.
D-man, your theory is just as plausible as the other one. I know none of us want to admit that but we all know it's in the realm of possibility. I mean, the previous head coach just took an OL coach job at a sunbelt school.

Yeah, but his departure wasn't voluntary.
And the coach before that resigned to go Tennessee Tech. UAB is not a stepping stone for head coaches
Well, we've only had 4.
Helton went to Cincinatti and Tuberville.
Being Petrino's OC & asst HC at a school posting winning records will get you a HC gig faster than being McGee's OC slowly building a program with no winning records in recent memory.
The Titanic theory is more fun to some for some strange reason. It could be it is what it is. It isn't always doomsday.

UAB: A source has informed me that offensive line coach John Peterson will return to the staff. Peterson was a candidate to fill the o-line job at Purdue.
Keep in mind that most of us had no real inside knowledge of FBHC McGee nor his original staff before he was hired and brought them in. I just hope Coach McGee is such a well regarded judge of coaching talent that his staff is a place to look for other FBHC's searching for new staff members. NO ONE has said anything that even hints at "bailing out" at this point.
