Our projected RPI is 15 if we win out. Yes, we have zero marquee wins and that is a humungous hurdle to overcome in the eyes of the committee, but with no losses outside the top 100 and an RPI of 15 is very much still in the running for a 7 seed. Yes, last year our RPI was 16 and we were given an 8 seed, but that was also a pretty good shafting. Even some of the media agreed it was. Right now it doesn't feel like we could get a 7 because this pitiful performance is still fresh on our minds, but if we win out from here we have a good shot at that 7 seed. I think it will be about a 50/50 chance we get it Selection Sunday barring we win out.

If you look at RPI alone, 15th would be in line for a 4 seed. If they punished us 3 seeding spots we would get a 7 seed. Hopefully they wouldn't go full fledge on us like last year and punish us a full 4 seeeding lines and make us an 8 seed again.
UT win looking better and better.
We win out, maybe beat USM again, UTK keeps it going and we'll have four top 50 wins. That'll be huge.

7 seed is asking a bit much at this point. The dreaded 8/9 seed is most likely.
If we are 30-4 on Selection Sunday with a 15 RPI, we are getting a 6 seed (book it). It would be criminal to give us a 8 or 9 with that record and RPI. I think quality wins are very important, and we do not have many, but we get a 7 at worst if we win out.

I personally think we will get a 6 or 7 if we win out, but you get your head chopped off around here for saying such things right now.
If we win out, we will get a 7. A 6 would be a stretch, but crazier things have happened. We've seen Indiana lose twice on the road now, to Illinois and Minnesota, and still be projected as a #1 seed, most importantly, the #1 seed in Indy.
We'll see Gonzaga now rise to the top next week, but still be potentially on the verge of not getting a 1. This season is just crazy.

Besides the record, this is literally the exact same thing we were saying last year.

And what happened?

I don't disagree with you. I think if that pans out, we'll deserve a 6-7. But we won't get it.
11 seed. imho

This. I can't see how you guys can be optimistic about our seeding after how the committee treated us last season. Take whatever you think we'll get, and add 2 to it.

Except last year we had a) more losses and b) horrible loss to UTEP late in the season. And on top of that, most everyone in the national media thought we got shafted with our seeding and matchup.

IF, IF, IF we win out and go 30-4 we'll be at worst a 7 seed.
I think we should put on hold all of these "if we win out" scenarios until we see what happens @ UCF.

@UTEP scares me the most.

@UTEP scares me the most.

Me too, but @ UCF interests me the most because it is the first game after the loss. Will they come out focused and intense and win or will they be down in the dumps and get beat again?

True, we should not get ahead or ourselves. There is a lot of basketball to play between now and Selection Sunday. One game at a time...

Hope they remember losing at UCF and getting court stormed.
I also think 6 seed is the unfortunate best- and yes- lack of top tier wins...even if for the most part the team played like a top 25 team...will matter.

Will be tough to win the next 6, but it starts Saturday against a good, not great (again) Central Florida team on the road.
If we get an 8 or 9 and Gonzaga is a 1, I predict we'll be in their bracket.

Them or Indiana, if IU is the overall #1. They wanna get Memphis out of the tournament fast is the new conspiracy theory I think.
