This should teach everyone to chill out on talking about final 4's or if we're better than past teams when we reel off a win streak against crappy teams. This place has been setting up for disappointment with every win. People who were remotely realistic about the team have been trashed as miserables. That being said, we're not on the bubble so Goodman can go suck it. We can easily sweep the rest of the CUSA and get a 10-12 seed in the tourny and see what happens. The season isn't over, the guys are just going to have to match up with a better team come March. We just don't run any kind of halfcourt offense against decent defensive teams. I'm not sure if it's Josh or the guys, or both, but it kills us in the big games. The team showed plenty of heart today, which I don't think anyone questioned with this bunch. Would have liked to see more Shaq down the stretch but I'm not the coach. Couldn't believe the FT shooting either, geez. I hope the guys keep their chins up and keep fighting. Once we get to the tourny we'll likely be as talented as the upper seeded team we match up with so anything can happen. Here's to hoping for the best the rest of the way.

I think the guys want to get over the hump so bad that they psyche themselves out. I was encouraged by the fight. I hate Shaq was hampered by foul trouble because we didn't get a great game from Black. He fumbled a pass from Joe that should have been an and 1 but was like a turnover because he missed both free throws.

If we loosen up and get that 1st win, we'll be alright.
The poor free throw shooting was not the team as a whole, it really was just two, players, DJ and Black. When our future opponents view the tape of this game, they will notice this and you know who they will target to foul in a close game down the stretch. Just possibly maybe something could be done by the coaching staff to help these two improve in this area? Just asking. Not being critical.

It would just be nice if Tiger fans got the message to just chill out and let the team do their thing. Everyone here is racing to be the first guy to say "book it, we're going to the final 4" or whatever lofty predictions they have. You set yourself up for disappointment when you start doing that and you get the rest of the people believing in that nonsense. Now on the flip side, the season isn't over. Really, if you were being realistic about the season coming in, this loss isn't all that big a deal. Beating Xavier wasn't going to be the difference between us being a final 4 contender or a bubble team. My goal, and I think a reasonable one coming into the season, was to ultimately win a tournament game. Let's say we win out and wind up an 11 seed. Lunardi hasn't updated his Bracketology but as of now he has Notre Dame, Colorado State, St. Louis and Pitt as the 6 seeds. Would it be a big shock if we beat any of these teams? I think not. If this is the caliber of team we can expect to face then our chances of winning a tournament game have not diminished much. The Xavier loss should serve as a reality check, not an end to the season.
