A perspective Ramsey 5 year record 68-118 his first two years 7-21 and 13-19.

Just a little perspective on Murphy's performance his first two years.

Patience.
I am totally fine with having Murphy here. I am still disappointed about this season though. Our final record won't be much better than last years with supposedly that much better team and players. With all that being said I am still very optimistic about the future but pretty sure that as soon as Murph has one good/great season he will be gone...
Next year will be year 3 and the year that almost all players are Murphy's players.

As I have suggested before, Talley becomes the key newcomer next year + Ward.

Obviously, if Murphy picks up any transfers, they normally won't be eligible next season.

Frosh are frosh and I always have modest expectations from them (e.g., 5 PPG).

Lee could be a lot better year #2 having gained a good bit of experience without blowing his red-shirt year (It is my understanding is that they'll request a red-shirt year for him).

Also, how much improvement Ross gets from year #1 to 2.

For those who are optimists (rosy scenario) Talley, Ward and Lee could be 3 significant pieces to add to the returnees.

I'm optimistic... Talley, Ward and Lee.

As I'm sure Bob knows, we've had excellent teams when we've had Lorenzo Neely, Brian Tolbert and Earl Boykins running the point. I don't remember anyone picking Boykins' pocket.

It will be interesting how these players are utilized in the offense or how will they be put in the position to score.

$5 says they will look confused on the floor, wait til the shot clock goes down to 1 and jack up a tre while Murphy googles for job openings on his phone.
Oh man, Neely,Boykins, Tolbert. Great memories!!! I would like nothing more than for Talley to be the real deal. We deserve it!
Talley will be solid. Don't expect the next Medlock...
Now...if we can get Riley to resemble Theron Wilson (I thoroughly believe he has the tools to do so, hence, why I've been kinda hard on him) we'll really have something.

I would be completely happy if he avg. 8 and 8 and played with a little more energy...

One thing about a team with GB III, Harrison, Ward, Riley, etc. is that Talley doesn't need to be a superstar.

He needs to do two things:

1). Be a floor general

2). Be a good ball handler.

I look that this year's team and I don't see a real good ball handler and I don't know who the leader on this team is.

This is pretty much a CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) type team. Very little swagger GB III has some swagger).

There is no Tolbert, Boykins, Dial, etc. (that team was loaded with leaders).

When I go to a game I like to look for things other than what I can see on television.

This is one of the things Dennis misses when he gets into his recruiting by just reading box scores and not going to h.s. games.

FWIW, I saw Tolbert play ONE h.s. game (vs. Southgate Aquinas) and I was sold on Tolbert. He handled the ball. Had swagger. Leadership.

I don't see a Tolbert on this year's team.

(BTW, EMU was recruiting a 6' 7" 240 PF/C with brick hands who ended up at CLE State. MSU signed Jon Garivalgia (sp). ).

Honestly, I'd take him being just Darrell Lampley at this point. This team would've won 4-5 more games if Lampley were still on the squad...but every team can say that about graduated players. Just having a guy who can create his own shot and take care of the ball at the PG spot would make us look a lot better.

Amen!!

Inconsistent PG play and quarterbacking can make basketball and football offenses look ugly.

Oh, just ask any EMU fan. Lol.
I just want to see some of that 02-13-banana02-13-banana

I agree I'm disappointed abit with this year's team as well. I was expecting slightly above .500 and another MAC West title. But I also realized that the MAC West had a pretty good recruiting cycle and was going to be more competitive-ie Ball State, WMU. While I disagree with some on Still's talent levels these isn't a doubt another big man would have been helpful and of course Lee's injury. With Matt graduating finding a backup to Riley becomes critical in my opinion, adding a scorer (Ward), another point option (Talley) and an outside shooter who can just plain burn the nets (Martin or Robinson or both). Therefore I would hope Murphy scores a couple of bigs in the spring and either Martin or Robinson signs-I honestly like Robinson at this point over Martin.

THis is not going to happened unless he does a 180 about scoring he wants to be an offensive force under the basket.
