I've been so focused on my half marathon races that I let this one slip up on me: the 2nd annual UAB OT 5k.

Race day registration is $25.

Address is 5458 Cahaba Valley Road, Birmingham, AL 35242 at Heardmont Park.
I like the Dollars for Scholars run held every year in April. I'll do that one this year.

At first I thought it said "UABOT Run." I was about to ask if that's the case, do I get to run after Finis for 3 miles wielding a torch or trident?

I've done Dollars for Scholars a couple of times. That's a nice flat course. I may do that one again this year. That would be my first 5k in a new (hopefully easier) age category.
There's a new course for the UAB Alumni Run (Dollars 4 Scholars)... the best part of that race was the post-race party in the street @ Pepper Place, so I hope it doesn't change too much.

Yeah, I loved that course.

I'm trying to visualize a course starting at the Alumni House, and I don't think it's going to be nearly as flat.
Good race today, and I hope to do that one again next year. Very flat 5k. Roads were damp with a few puddles, but the temp was perfect. If you're thinking about getting into 5Ks, this one would be a great one to start with. The overall race crowd seemed pretty new to running, as there were just 2 other people I saw warming up before the race. Winning time was about 22:30, and only 4 people finished in under 25 minutes out of about 50 participants.
