We are the youngest team in D1 basketball and they are the most experienced team in D1 basketball. Yet we managed to give a good account of ourselves. I didn't expect to win, and we did beat the spread of 9 points. And for those who weren't at the game, Kemy Osse hit a Nick Zachary three at the end of the game. Easily 30 feet and nothing but net. And the three pointers we hit were all when the outcome of the game was still in doubt.

MJS says its easier to make them when it doesn't mean anything. Well these did, and if he would think back to the ASU game, our threes were when we still had a chance to win. We pulled within ten points and then fell back.04-cheers
Good game Trojans!

Who is responsible for us having the youngest team? If we had recruited worth a **** for several years, and had been able to keep some of them around for four or five years, we might have an experienced team.

If we'd hit some of those in the first half, or early in the second half, it might have been a different outcome. Sure we hit several at the end, but we didn't hit **** earlier. Will didn't score until the 6:18 mark in the second half. And the sad part is he didn't really get but three or four of those fade away shots.

I believe the 3 pointer's we made tonight actually supports my argument. For all intents and purposes the game was over. Hitting 3's in that situation is a no pressure situation. If you miss, big deal- no one cares and no one remembers. If you make them- great, you make the game look close. Maybe you put us in a situation where a real miracle could happen- a guy misses 2 free throws, we hit a length of the court 3 pointer at the buzzer. But realistically the odds of pulling the game out were astronomical. The odds of getting down it to 3 points, like we did was 100-1, at best. So no, those were not pressure 3 pointers as far as I was concerned.
Good game guys.

Your team had a lot of fight tonight.

This team will be dangerous next year.

In a lot of ways we are. We bitched right here and were heard that we wanted less juco's and more fr/4 years players. Well, we did it and everyone knew this hump year was coming and it is here.

Yes, some of us bitched about not having enough freshmen along the way, and then not keeping them around for four or five years, but the blame doesn't belong to the one that *******. It belongs to the coach. Had he been recruiting, and then keeping freshmen all along, this "youth" situation would never have occurred that brought on the bitching. The type of players brought in belong to one guy. Steve Shields. You and I didn't recruit a one of the players. I for one aren't accepting any of the blame for the quality of basketball he's put on the court for ten years.

Hard to keep JC transfers around four or five years . . . except Barky, of course.

I'm not talking about Juco's. I've always advocated recruiting two or three freshmen each year, not five or six at a time, or having eight new players at one time to learn the system.
