I just noticed this. The MVC has 5 teams in the top 40 of the RPI

Northern Iowa... 19-4... #13
Creighton... 17-5... #18
Wichita St... 18-6... #24
Southern Illinois... 17-6... #35
Missouri St... 15-7... #38

Hmmm. Think they get 3 or 4 in??? We gotta knock someone out in the BE. We know Seton Hall is, but Syracuse may just be a must win game as well.
Creighton: Biggest win @home vs. Nebraska, home vs Xavier
NIU: Biggest wins: @ Iowa St., @ home vs Iowa, @ LSU,
WSU: Biggest win vs Providence @ home
SIU: @ Wyoming, losses to Alaska Anchorage/Monmouth
SMS:

In other words, 2 at the most make it. We need to root for Creighton or NIU to win the conference tourney. If not, then that will most definitely take up a spot. CU/NIU are probably both locks if they finish out the way thigns are expected.

two at the most make it?? you can't be serious.

you listed their biggest out of conference wins. that's sort of like saying marquette's biggest win came agaisnt south carolina. their wins against each other count much more than that. i think they got three that are comfortably in (northern iowa, creighton and wichita state) so long as they don't bottom out at the end of the season, and will most likely get a fourth in. i think there is a much better chance of them getting as many as five in than there is as them getting as few as two in.

as far as how it effects the bubble, i don't see how it would have any more or less of an effect than any other conference who has teams on the bubble. regardless of what leagues the teams are coming from, the bubble is pretty much always the same size.

No effect? Come on, Brew Think this one through all the way.

If X gets listed as the last team out and the MVC gets 4 teams in, I'm guessing you'll be talking about the effect.
I think that 3 get in minimum and I would expect 4 actually. The MVC is starting to get more respect and 5 wouldn't surprise me, but I expect at least one to play themselves into the NIT with a slow finish.

Actually, those rpi's are pretty impressive.

well, if it wasn't the mvc teams that were on the bubble, it would be some other teams from other conferences. the fact that they are from the mvc doesn't change the way the bubble behaves. besides, if the mvc gets four in, it's most likely that only one of the four was on the bubble anyway.
a bigger threat to the bubble is teams like gonzaga, george mason, george washington and possibly nevada not winnning their conference tournaments. the same might be able to be said for wisnconsin milwaukee, but only if they run the table.
Maybe using X was a bad example. I should have said that the MVC getting 4 teams in would hurt bubble teams from major conferences - not other mid majors.

I am serious. NIU and Creighton are both locks IMO. Other than that WSU and others don't really have impressive non-conference wins. If you're in a conference like the MVC, you need some notable OOC wins. It's always tougher once you play in conference. If WSU gets in because they beat freaking Providence, I'll puke.

WSU has 4 conference losses. They haven't beat NIU or Creighton. I'm not sure how SMS is that high in the RPI considering they're 8-6 in conference. SIU's biggest in-conference win was against Creighton. OH yeah, they also lost @HOME to Indiana State.

IT's pathetic if WSU gets in with their biggest win against Providence OOC. They haven't even beaten NIU or Creighton. I'm sure they beat SIU who didn't even ebat a noteworthy team OOC conference yet lost to teams like Monmouth and Alaska Anchorage.
