...hope everyone got through it OK... west Hattiesburg - reports of some campus damage... Weather channel is reporting with footage of the tornado... T&P to all in the area...
James Spann has a picture of the tornado. I have seen reports that it went through the western part of the campus. I hope everyone is safe.
...the conference message board has more info - someone has posted a YouTube vid already... Weather Channel said it went directly thru town.

It just doesn't look right in social media to "like" a disaster or the effects of it.
Maybe they liked that there were no reported injuries on campus.
That could be it.
...I know FaceBook was VERY informative when PG was hit by the T-town tornado in April 2011... my wife had just purchased an iPhone about a week earlier, and it was truly our only means of 'contact' for 2-3 days, anyway...we had no property damage at all, but no power, and of course, there's MAJOR issues to take care of in a disaster area before you worry about the unaffected.
So FB has a purpose, and I don't mind it at all... I take the 'likes' in this scenario to be more of a 'thanks for the info' deal.
The more a post is liked and shared, the higher it will show up in people's news feeds. It's useful for helping promote important posts; although in this instance sharing is probably a better option.
I see "like" on facebook, at least at times like this, translates to, "hey, folks that I know, I think you ought to see this" not so much, "hooray tornado!"

Here's a video that I found. If you go to the 4 minute mark you Basketball Blazer fans should recognize Buffalo Wild Wings which is where you guys usually tailgate for basketball games

I'm so glad that most of the students were not on campus due to Mardi Gras. That certainly helped keep potential injuries to a minimum.

Which street is Hardy Street?

Is it the main street off the 1st exist on 59-S or is it the 2nd exit? Or is it neither?

It looked to me like it was the 2nd exit main street.

If you are coming from Birmingham, Hardy St is the 2nd exit. The first exit is HWY 49.
Thanks.

That is what I thought.

I made the trip down last year.
