Someone asked in another thread whether Reggie Witherspoon is on the hot seat or not and I was thinking it might be a good discussion.

I would have to assume that Billy Taylor and Louis Orr are facing some heat. Witherspoon might be a little. After last season Murphy may be. What are your thoughts?
I think the Buffalo administration has shown they're fine with Reggie unless he completely craters.
If Orr is back next year, there may be nobody left in the Stroh to watch a game...and that isn't saying much with the current state of affairs.

He's the nicest guy in the world...but he's just not a good basketball coach.
I believe Billy has 1 more year on his contract and I think that's why he was around this year. Attendance is at an all-time low. His schedules are always in the bottom 3rd of SOS. He is in his 5th year and the team is 4-21 in the last 25 MAC games. Horrible.

I forgot to add that after 5 years, his teams aren't even competitive with teams from his own conference. He has a record of 2-21 (or something similar) against the east.

He's got them at a 5th seed right now.

Today's word is......... moribund.

Louis Orr is the coach of a moribund basketball program

I wish our team would improve to the level of moribund. 03-banghead

BG's schedule is back-loaded. I'll be shocked if they finish fifth.

We are playing .500 basketball overall for the first time in a loonnnggg time. Unless we completely tank, there's no way his job is in any kind of jeopardy...much to the chagrin of some of our "impossible to please" fans.

Only four teams currently have a winning record in the MAC. Being number 5 doesn't mean much more than the MAC sucks top to bottom in hoops.

If Billy is not facing heat, then I have already lost faith in the new AD.

Damn, I miss the '90's...

I think when it comes to the current state of MAC hoops everyone misses the 90's...
Taylor should be gone. EMU seems to be real close to turning the corner. They are a dangerous team and not and easy game anymore.
Buffalo is one of those teams that on any given nite that can beat anyone in this league. They also can lose to anyone.

Yeah...I think the only way he saves his job is with some major success in the tournament.

Thanks, John.

indeed, MAC sports other than basketball seem to be doing very well.

Men's hoops???????

We had 7 bowl teams but can't get two NCAA tourney bids (and haven't in a loooooooooooooong time).

Before he was forced to resign, Agnew was floating the Presidential slogan "The Spiro of '76". He deserved jail time for that alone....

I wasn't referring to the job he's done. He's obviously got the Eagles heading in the right direction. I meant after he nearly bolted for the NBA. I would have to imagine that burned a lot of chits from his goodwill pile.

Orr will be back next year. The program has risen from where Dakich left it.

Is Orr the man to take us to the next level? Nope.
Will Orr be back for 2013-14? Yep.
What about 2014-15? I hope not.
How many years does Orr have left on his contract? IF he were to get fired, it would probably be when he has 1 year left on his contract, because if you go into your last year of your contract without an extension, it will be impossible to recruit and the coach will most likely know he's not wanted.
