i was wondering if anyone is going to the Beerfest next weekend downtown? I went last year and it was amazing! They have over 350 craft beers to sample.

Just looked at the list, that is amazing.

Edit: 25 samples in 5 oz glass; which beers do others think are "must trys"? I also prefer dunkels and the darker beers (to include porters)... have tried the Becks, Bass, etc brews... I'm curious about some of the more obscure beers on the list
Last year i tried the beers that i couldnt get in Cincy. i will go through the list and tell you which ones i think are must trys. Even though it says 25 beer samples I dont know who can make it through all 25 tickets without being dragged out. That is considering you drink all 5oz of beer. Last year I think I made it to 12 beers. Most of the beers on the list have a 8-13% ABV.

1 of the reasons I love craft beers, was stationed in Germany for awhile and that was my first taste of real beer... was used to the water they call beer here in the US till I got to Europe.

I agree. After drinking craft beers i cant drink budlight anymore (unless i am at a tailgate).
i'll see you there.
I imagine most are going to go Saturday since UC plays at 9 on Friday night. I have somewhere I have to be Saturday so I was going to go ahead and go Friday night. Planning to get VIP tickets.
It is almost sold out.
Just bought 2 VIP tickets for Saturday

Beck, what are your suggestions from the list..? I've found in some of your other beer posts several I've tried and liked.
That list is not accuarte, but I'd certain try some of the new Cincy breweries , Uinta from Utah, Upland from Bloomington....that might be a good event. There will be a bunch of brewpub only beers such as Victory Ranch IPA, Broolyn Blast, Anchor Flying Cloud. You know Bell's will bring something funky......
The Beer list for this thing is really awesome. I am stoked for this event. Got my VIP tickets for Friday night.

I had ommegang's last night for the first time at Taste of Belgium in OTR. It was special on draft there that night I guess. I talked to a guy at the bar who I think was a representative from Ommegangs and he had me put my first beer on his tab. I drank the Art of Darkness Ale which was pretty good.
The actual list is better than the published list, it will be a solid event.
Does anyone know how well the regular ticket versus a VIP ticket is? I have heard with the regular ticket you have to wait in lines forever. Please let me know. Thanks.

I was just about to ask the same question. I was thinking about just getting a regular ticket at the door, but if you have to wait in line forever is it really worth it?
Exactly. I've had people tell me Beer Fest is an absolute blast. But I've also had people tell me the lines suck. If all my friends have VIP tickets, is it even worth it for me to purchase a regular ticket?
VIP ticket allows you in at 630 instead of 730. It also gives you an 8oz mug instead of 5

I would buy your tickets online if they are still available because last year they turned away a lot of people because they sold out of tickets at the door. My friend was one of the last to get theirs at the door. I think they are selling early tickets at Rock Bottom from 3-530 if you want to go that route.
