He is graduating after this year and would not have to sit out a year. However, I agree with your overall sentiment and point.

While I really hope he doesn't leave - he is graduating this year which would allow him to transfer as a Grad student. He wouldn't have to sit out. I think it is in his best interest to stay and start working his butt off.

He'll have his degree and won't have to sit a year if he transfers somewhere that offers a grauate degree that Memphis doesn't.
to all I stand corrected. because he is graduating early he would not have to sit out. The fact that he is graduating early would be a bigger incentive to stay and play for the tigers or go pro somewhere. going to another school near by makes no sense at all!

Go away! every player has gotten better under Pastner. If Black would move his feet and not stand in watch he could play more. Even I could out rebound him.
I have to agree with the OP. I can definitely see Tarik transferring next year because of what is going on this year. I will say that everything that has happened is Tarik's fault, but Josh is clearly making a concerted effort to limit his minutes for some season. I have been watching pretty closely over the last 5 or 6 games and I don't think Tarik is averaging 15 mins a game. That is insane imho. Tarik is one of our best players (even if some do not want to acknowledge that) and should be playing at least 20 mins a game. I would really hate to see Tarik in another Jersey, but this season has really not gone well for him. The competition that he is getting from Shaq has clearly affected him in a negative way. Most guys respond well to competition and take their game to another level, but Tarik has seemed to pout about it. This makes me question is heart. If he doesn’t have heart and is scared of competition, I do not see any scenario where he is here next year.

DJ wont be playing the four next year. Shaq will. If you think Tarik is outplaying either one of them you are in the minority. That doesn't take anything away from Tarik, just a credit to a better than advertised freshman and a fan favorite playing out of his mind. It takes nothing away from Tarik's game.
The main reason Black sits on he bench is foul trouble.
I was at that game. JP isn't Tarik's problem. Being out rebounded by guys half his size is his problem.
