Reportedly Fort Lewis College (D-II - CO) offensive line coach Brad Wilson will be our new Offensive Line Coach according to FootballScoop.com

Here's his profile:

He played at Ball State from 02-06 and then served as a GA there. Probably got the job due to his ties with Stan Parrish who was with the Ball State program during this time period.
It will be interesting to see how the former Miami Ohio coach fits in and where. English hinted there was a new DC. I would also think there maybe a new LB and DB coach.

Hopefully we've completely staffed prior to spring football practice starting.

It will be interesting to see what recruiting connections the new staff brings. Right now I would say we are weak in Illinois and Florida.
Dear Friends,
We will probably have to wait until March. Then, when spring ball starts, to find out who are all the new coaches. Seems kind of backwards. We know the latest recruits, we have a returning roster to look at, but don't know the coaches. The fact that Eastern got a good class of recruits, maybe bodes well for not knowing?

Yes, he are probably dead in the water in IL now.

What we should keep in mind is that P.J. Fleck at WMU will go hard at MI, IN, and IL. P.J. apparently is a pretty persuasive guy and very good recruiter.

Recruiting for 2014 will be an uphill climb, but English has had enough time to develop strong roots with many, many h.s. coaches in MI, OH, and IN. He can continue to go back to schools where he has gotten recruits (the foot in the door bit).

I am willing to bet you that this hurt us (new coaches) with this recruiting because kids and parents want to know/meet any coaches that would be working with their sons day-2-day...

Also, I am sure that other schools used this against us, if they knew that we was after a kid they wanted.. This was also one of the comments from the WMU board and may have been how we lost Bass.

Quote:Eastern Michigan: We have learned that Ferris State (D-II - MI) defensive coordinator Ryan Oshnock has accepted the special teams job at Eastern Michigan.

any idea what his tie is to the staff?
I thought we had a ST coach already, did he leave?
isn't Burbee special teams coach?

Interesting and the special teams were anything but special in 2012.

It was a problem area we just didn't talk about...
Interesting trend most of the new assistants are from Div II schools. What's the salary difference between a Div II assistant and a Div I assistant?

I'm thinking the only spot now open is the LB spot.

In all fairness I thought the kicking game was fairly solid last year especially with Mulder. The rest of the areas I agree with you.

KiJuan Ware who was hired a couple weeks back is listed on the EMU site as the secondary coach now. Seems like an odd choice since all his experience comes coaching on offense.

How awesome. 03-puke
Hm why would English make a coach with no apparent defensive coaching experience a coach for a DBs? an area that is crucial for next year. I mean its kinda of an insult for those DBs who are here and come here and hope a coach will make them a better DB. Am I missing something here?
I guess I have more faith in the staff than most here. If English didn't honestly think Ware was good for the job, why would he hire him? I'm sure English had other options. He must have understanding of the positions and defense to get the job at a DI school.

Also, I'm sure English will be heavily supervising the DBs himself.

With all due respect, I'll have faith in the staff when they've earned it.

Shows you how the outside world views English's career -- sinking like a stone. He probably couldn't find anyone better.

And now Ron is the DC...wonder why he couldn't find a quality potential DC out there?
Better than Howard Feggins and Jay Peterson...
That's fairly faint praise. Actually English's defense last year would have fit right in with the Genyk era.

And actually the best defensive line that English has had at EMU was when Ohrman, Slater and Reese were seniors and they were all former Genyk recruits.

Right. We're talking about the coaches though.
So TimBuck, are you saying that the new coaches are an upgrade from last year's English coaching staff-in your opinion?
