Zips came out firing and took an early 13-3 lead but took their foot off the gas after. CMU up 36-35 with just a shade less than 15 to play. Treadwell already has 4 fouls.
Akron turning the ball over a lot. Can't get any second chance points, either, despite offensive rebounds.
Break out the first extinguisher on Kyle Randall.
In the time it took me to log in CMU appeared to melt down on gametracker.
I wouldn't call it a meltdown. Just a series of unfortunate events.
Golly, that was ugly.
CMU played very poised and shot well. They may be good in seasons to come...
Akron lit it up when I watched them play Toledo, it was like they could do no wrong. If they play like they did tonight vs. half of the conference they will get beat.

The Jar is nasty03-puke
Obviously, I'm disappointed with our play tonight.

But I do give a lot of credit to Central Michigan. If tonight was any indication, that program is certainly headed in the right direction. Randall is as good of a guard as we have seen all season.

Keno Davis came out with a great gameplan. He knew that Akron had a short turnaround after a big emotional win, so he decided to force Akron to defend for 30 seconds each possession. He also knew that Akron is shorthanded at the guard positions, so he threw a bunch of quick players at them to run around and hopefully burn one of Akron's big men.

It was just about the only way CMU could keep things close, and they executed it very well. Throw in that Akron had an poor shooting night, and there's your ballgame.
Also, which CMU fan pulled the fire alarm in the middle of the game? It might have worked back when you faced Charlie Coles' Miami, but it didn't do you any good this time.

Akron had 16 turnovers. I don't care how good the opponent's gameplan was. That shouldn't happen.

Staley referred us to a guy out of NOLA. Close, but didn't quite work out for us, either.
