Compared to all of the other teams in the Top 10 & Top 25, I dont see how we dont match up with any of these teams if we played in the NCAA tournament.
I personally feel this is a National Championship contender, or at least a darkhorse for now.
The only weakness I see is that we get a little out of control closing games out.
talent, coaching, and seeding.
turnovers - If we can keep it around 11 and under for the whole game.....watch out!
Based on the last couple of years, I'd say the team's success is the polar opposite to its ignorant, irrational posting fan base. The less rational the base, the higher the team's performance. KU and UK would be prime examples. We need to get more irrational, phobic and ignorant about basketball before our team can cut down the NC net.
Defense has gotten better. Offense is still lagging. Turnovers and 3pt shooting are still the biggest issues. If the offense plays like they did against Tulsa consistently we will be pretty good.

What a scary thought.
We are 0-11 against Top 25 teams. Until that changes, I will not call them National Championship contenders no matter how many awful C-USA teams they beat.
Leadership on the court, maturity, basketball I.Q.

BTW, this is a classic Memphis board thread. That is why I love going through here from time to time.
We are not a very mentally tough team right now. To win a nc you have to get hot, but you also have to be very tough mentally. We have some guys on this team who appear to be pretty weak in the head sometimes. We also have issues staying focused and playing the right way for 40 mins. Until the staff can get this group of players to play smart and tough consistantly I don't expect a really deeep run. I would love to be wrong.
Because going back in time has been proven to be impossible. #Physics...

That's still the thing. It's hard to get top 25 wins when you only have 3 or 4 chances a year and all of those are out of conference. We would have more losses with more top 25 games but we would certainly have some wins.

Top 25 wins isn't the only standard. When viewed against what might have been post-X --- Pastner has done a hell of a job. There were multiple reasons, you know, that no one of note wanted the Memphis job after Calipari left and then tooled the program w/ both recruits and the NCAA.
