Is there any western schools on the rise that c-usa can look at besides NMSU?? There is Idaho? Univ of San Diego? IDK If utep is gonna stay in C-USA then i think C-USA needs to add some western schools and have a real West and East Division.
We don't want anything to do with Idaho and that airplane hanger they play in.
CUSA would/should be careful if they want to add NMSU. If they were to add the Aggies and then UTEP joined MWC then we'd have another team on an island
Adding San Diego or Idaho doesn't make good geographical sense. Too long of trips and no other teams around them. And if we added several teams from that far west, then like the old WAC, they'd probably just end up splitting off in a few years anyway. We have a good footprint now, we just need to fill in the holes on the map (AR, SC, GA).
If UTEP were to stay, NMSU makes some sense. But can anyone be confident that this will happen? Would be terrible to have NMSU on an island if UTEP leaves.
I think I would add any school that kept UTEP in the conference, and I think I would not add any school UTEP found repellant.

of course, our brilliant commissioner thinks it's his job to move schools out of this thing that he allegedly runs . . .

How much further west are they than UTEP? I don't want anymore teams west of the Mississippi River let alone west of UTEP.

NMSU is about 45 miles north of UTEP and only 2 or 3 miles further west. But I'm pretty sure that the UTEP admin does not want them in the same conference. Personally I hope NMSU makes it into the Sun Belt and that C-USA eventually adds Texas St, among others, as warranted.

Exactly. UTEP doesn't want them and we have absolutely no reason to add them. CUSA 3.0 is about being regional. If UTEP, Tulsa, etc, leave then 4.0 will be about being even more regional.
Say no to Enemas U. 03-puke
Just out of curiosity, how come UTEP doesnt want NMSU? To me that seems like an easy roadtrip, only about 45 minutes away and a good rivalry.
NMSU sucks. UTEP already plays them OOC in everything. Absolutely no reason to bring them into our conference. Also, the El Paso TV area is already covered by UTEP. It's not Houston, we don't need to double up there.

Hopefully in the very near future Be will add utsa, odu, umass, and uncc. These four schools (just like uconn) only need a chance to grow, shine, and show.

Don't lose sight of the fact that UNM also wants nothing to do with NMSU. I don't know all the ins and outs of it, I know that NMSU athletics are hurting for money, weren't they the ones that there was the story going around about the school asking players parents to contribute to after game refreshments or something like that?

Anyway, take UTEP off the map, whoever then becomes the western most school, that needs to be where the line is drawn, if a candidate pops up just slightly beyond that line, fine, but we don't need to go anywhere near as far west as UTEP, let alone a little bit further, unless they make it clear that they want a travel partner and they're going to hang around after we do that. UTEP on an island is okay, NMSU on an island would be awful.
I know they currently have problems with their athletic budget, but I just figured that NMSU would be a travel partner for UTEP especially when they travel to the east coast. Now if UTEP leaves for the MWC, I dont think we should add anybody else west of San Antonio

I'm not sure you fully understand the concept of a travel partner.
No one actually shares flights or anything. A travel partner isn't a great term.

So you're basically looking at the I-35 corridor through DFW/Waco/Austin/San Antonio/Laredo as the western edge if UTEP leaves.

NMSU doesn't make much sense unless something major happens and they are the best of what's available.
None of us would be in that conference.
The farthest west i would go would probably be Texas State.

Here is a question... How do you break the divisions if you lose Tulsa and add East of the Mississippi?

Does the eastern schools accept the loss of USM to the West so that you can add a team like WKU? Ark St? ULM? There will be much more thought to all of this if Tulsa leaves than just adding the best overall fit.
