Nice write up about Charlotte and Southern Miss basketball this season. Keep it up Golden Eagles! 04-rock

It also mentions LA Tech. Looks like the new C-USA has potential to be a decent basketball league.
good find
...love the pic of dd.....he is a beast!
Nice find. Very nice.04-cheers
seems weird that 3/4 teams mentioned in the article are going to in CUSA next year

How long before the nBE types start downplaying C-USA's future basketball strength? I predict it starts within minutes.

if it wasn't for basketball, I don't think they would that that thrilled with the prospect of adding Memphis
The best thing about Charlotte and USM is they are both very young teams.

Charlotte has 1 SR, 1 JR, 3 Freshmen, and 3 Sophomores that get extensive playing time.

Our 1 SR is a good player, but he hasn't really been much help lately. We'll miss him, but not nearly as much as I thought we would. I'd be thrilled if we can pull in a legit JUCO big men if any of those are left or maybe a graduate transfer that can play immediately. Two of our freshman post players have been great, but they're not huge at 6'8 (maybe being generous) and 6'6. We have a 6'10/11 guy, but he hasn't played much this year. He has clumsy hands. We either need someone to come in and contribute immediatley next year at the 5 or we need out 6'10 guy to improve significantly.
Looks like February 9th will be huge for both Charlotte and USM. USM plays Memphis and we play VCU.

Those games would look very nice on an at-large resume.
NN, we have 1 other Senior, JT Thompson grad student transfer coming from VT. Back in action after blowing out knees the last 2 years, probably playing 15mpg.
I don't see what is so surprising about Charlotte being good in basketball. Believe Tulsa fans have always considered Charlotte to be a basketball school and one of the better ones.
Great article 04-cheers

As I have posted (and many other USM fans), the next 4 games will just about be the make or break games that determine if USM will return to the NCAA's. Looking at our remaining schedule, it is set up for us to maintain at top 30 RPI BUT we have to win. The biggest RPI changer will be the a loss at Marshall. Here is our remaining schedule with RPI's as of Saturday morning

@Tulsa 99
@UAB 172
@UCF 108
Memphis 42
Tulane 141
@ECU 90
UTEP 75
@Memphis 42
ECU 90
@Marshall 209
UCF 108
USM is going to be a very debated team in March. They lead the nation in wins away from home at 8 but have 0 top 100 wins yet an RPI of 41.

We've been BAD the last 2 years and were predicted to finish 12th in the A10 this season. Far exceeding expectations to this point in the season.

We were heavily debated last year as well. Some numb nut on tv raised hell because we were invited and south fla wasnt. He didnt realize we had beaten them in dec, FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR.

Most of these guys just rattle off crap. No preporation or study on teams like us. Just goby the bias of the name on the jersey.

"They are idiots, they're idiots." To quote from the famous Eustachy rant.
Charlotte has surprised. But they got surprised today. GW wins by TWENTY-EIGHT over Charlotte. But then again, in their entire time in the Atlantic 10 conference, they never won a game in DC.
We forgot to play defense and couldn't land a shot. If we get a team that can rebound on us and threaten from the perimeter we'll lose on the road every time. Miami, Richmond and GW have proved that. Wish I could have been surprised but this is 49ers Basketball 101 to most of us.

That was a brutal game to watch in the second half. Think both teams were over ref'd.
