He is already one of the top all-time shot blockers in Little Rock history - with two seasons plus yet to play. That alone makes up for a lot of deficiencies. And those certainly are there. But he has to embrace the Bill Russell mold and move on.
You can't play, if you can't hit free throws. The other thing is the green light to just shoot all the time. Javes needs to rebound, block shots and dunk the ball. outside of that don't shoot the ball outside of your green light spots more than 2 times a game.
Blocked shots are a little overrated in my opinion. If its a blocked shot and we get the ball as a result, great, but as much if not more often the ball is either blocked out of bounds and its their ball again, or their player recovers the block and is usually at an advantage at that point because the defender who blocked it is off balance which is easy to take advantage of. Blocked shots are nice I think but don't make up for a lack of rebounding or shooting or free throws or playing the position correctly on offense.

I guess I have always assumed big men have trouble at the foul line. A lot of the great ones were terrible- Shaq and Wilt; Russell was only a bit over 50%. It's a nice benefit if your big man can shoot foul shots- but they are often lacking in this area.
If Javes had the other abilities of those aforementioned players, he wouldn't be needed to shoot free throws. You score 40 or 50 points a game, or grab 20 or 30 rebounds, thats somewhat offsets bad three throw shooting.
You can't play and shoot 30% from the line or field

You make a very good point. I've seen Javes block shots that go right back to the other team and they score on a second chance field goal. I also agree that blocking shots doesn't make up for all the other deficiences.04-cheers

That sums it up. Javes has not embraced his role.

Javes can. You may not play a lot of minutes, but you can be a starter.
