for Dan Enos...

I would not be happy if I were a Chip fan/donor.
Nice, 4 more years of stomping the Chimps...
Any info on the terms / $$? I am assuming more $$ but curious how much. Where does he stack up currently compared to other MAC coaches?
CMU did not give Enos a 4 year extension. They rescinded his previous contract that ran thru 2015 and replaced it with a new 4 year contract running thru 2016.
That is pretty common: to have a coach on a kind of rolling 4 year contract, assuming it is felt he has the program moving in the right direction.

Ok so they gave him a 1 year extension?

What do you think about it?
1yr extension or not I would be upset knowing that CMU is giving him a 35k raise.

Central Michigan: Dan Enos' agreement has been extended one year (now runs through December 2016). Enos also received a $35,000 / year raise.
Can we change the thread title?
Or at least correct "extention."
It's effectively a one year extension WITH a raise.

Either way...I'm pretty fired up about this.
I do not understand the dissatisfaction of some CMU fans with Enos. I think that his teams are very competitive and he seems to recruit very well. Of course, I am not there. It looks to me as if the MAC, at this point in time, have some very good coaches running the programs. We can not always say that.
I am not unhappy with Dan Enos. I see progress. Did they need an extension right now (with three years remaining)? Perhaps not, but I suppose it makes it easier to recruit (knowing who the coach will be for your entire college career). I'm not satisfied - but not unhappy.
CMU finished strong and won a bowl. No one expected a bowl last year and they finished 7-6. Six MAC teams did not reach a bowl. Keeping a coach does bring stability to a program.
Let's just say that many of us are skeptical and/or ambivalent. The next year or two will tell us mucho.

That's the point...the next year or two will determine his fate...and after year two, he would still have one year left on his contract.

Now, after year two...he will have 2 more years on his contract...hence making a buyout even more expensive.

This wreaks of Enos approaching the admin and stating his case about getting to bowl, beating Iowa and finishing with a winning record.

Unless the AD is worried about him being poached by a bigger program, a pay increase and extension would be unwarranted at this time. I doubt anyone bigger was asking about Enos at this point.

Although, Heeke did give him a year extension last year after finishing 3-9...so maybe it's just how they like to do business.... 01-wingedeagle

Our AD is off? Didn't yours come out and say she would be hiring someone with HC experience and did exactly the opposite?

I have a hard time seeing Enos approach the AD. Not really in his character and based on what? A bowl win? He even lost to the 5th place MAC West team!! I'm ambivalent about the extension. Adds a year but increases his buyout slightly, I think.

Our AD said that finding a HC with prior HC experience was a priority in the search...not a necessity.

Sometimes it doesn't work out that way. You don't hire someone just because they have HC experience.

Hey...I love having Enos there as long as possible....kind of like how CMU fans thought about Cubit...until the last two seasons of course.

Yeah but you guys did a 180 from what was expressed by your AD. He has less experience than Enos did and wasn't ready to be an OC last year, at least not for more than 1 day.

Honestly I think he is as much as a crap shoot as our current coach; who is only 1-2 against you guys.
