I personally thought he was the difference tonight. He reminds me a lot of Bryan Crislip. He can run the team and score. I'll always wonder what we and Bryan would have done had he stayed longer than to drink a cup of coffee.

Pretty simple math, seems to me.
Have you looked at Gus' season numbers? Shooting 60% from the field and 91% from the FT line. Granted it is on a pretty small sample, but enough to know that he deserves more minutes when compared with Javes' 40% and 34%. Especially late in the game when FTs are at a premium, Gus needs to be in there.
I look at things other than the box score. Like who might pout if he doesn't start and play more minutes than Gus? I don't know. Just a thought. Seriously, Javes has done better lately, other than the horrible free throw shooting. He does block and alter shots, and did get some rebounds last night. and is scoring some. Of course he didn't need to get a lot of rebounds because our six foot guard, Osse, had seven. Someone forgot to mention that.
Taggart is a classic LR junk player. Does a little bit of everything. He did not score big last night, but he had 3 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal - and zero turnovers.

Javes is killing us. He is shooting us out of games. Someone shooting as badly as he is does NOT need to be taking so many shots.

How about Osse with seven rebounds.

At some point Steve is going to have to admit the truth and start playing Leeper more minutes.
Pappy I'm going to have to disagree with you a little on this one. I just got a chance to watch the replay of the game. I was out last night. In the second half, Javes showed me why the coaches are sticking with him. He made a couple of beautiful hook shots, blocked shots, dove on the floor, got the ball and called a timeout, and played good defense. Sure, he's still having trouble with free throws, but his athletic ability is starting to show as his basketball knowledge and experience continues. I'm a lot more optimistic about him than I originally was. Not to diminish how well Gus is playing, but it's good to have both of them.

And about Isler and Taggart. They are both hard nosed, blue collar players. I hope we keep both of them until they finish their career, and I believe we will. One thing I've learned in life. Opinions can change when circumstances change. You know my opinons have varied, but that's allright. I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong about something. Let's hope we can continue on this high, and protect our home court next week.
Javes was 4 of 11 for the game. That is bad shooting even for a guard. I think he can be a player for us, but he does not need to shoot as much as he does - unless he is going to dunk. His topside probably is unlimited because of his basic physical skills on a 6-10 frame. I can see why he is playing, but not why he is shooting so much.
He does have a very good right handed hook shot that he can hit. He hit 2 of them last night. That and his dunk should be the majority of his shots.
I think Javes could be a huge offensive force for us if he would stick to what he can do. No reason he cannot average double figures.
I'm not sure it was correct, but the announcers said Javes had 15 rebounds in last year's game at BG.
He also hit a lovely shot from the top of the key for either our first or second basket of the game.

Tag and isler are hard nosed but both can shoot from the outside. Tag is tons better than last year at shooting the 3.

No reason not to play gus more. Javes has upside but that is just to get to where gus is at. The boot on gus' foot is taking minutes from him? I don't know but gus can score on the block, rebound and hit ft's, so play him until he can run up and down the court or he gets in foul trouble.

Obviously the coaches know something we don't about Gus's condition and/or conditioning. He's getting some minutes and if he keeps contributing he'll probably get more. Problem is there is only one ball and a lot of players this year, which is a good thing.

Judging by what he's averaging this year, I'd say it would take him about three games to amass 15 rebounds. I fail to see how a guy that tall and playing as many minutes as he does, can't get anymore rebounds than he does.
I think he'd get more if Will weren't around. Will gets some that maybe Javes would get if Will wasn't there.

Probably. He might even get into double figures if he was the only one on the floor.
That is more likely!
