I would think there would be a mad scramble to get in the MWC.

UC and UConn aren't going with the c7. Where will they play football? The MW? That is even more stupid than SDSU and Boise in the Big East. I'm sick and tired of all the bluster and whining coming from Cincy and UConn. They need to get with the program or get the f##k out. We can't get anything done with TV until they stop crying about the ACC, B12, etc. They are no different from any other program in the conference, who wouldn't move up to the B12 or the ACC if given the chance.

Don't discount the possibility they both might end up playing only FB in the BE. I think this is exactly what they are after. Honestly...I doubt very seriously the anyone could stop them. WTF are the rest of the schools going to do? They are needed to battle the MWC for the BCS and their RPI. We could well end up with them gone in Oly's to the C7.
I think we would just reload. Really, what is the alternative. Does UCF, South Flordia, SMU etc really have any choice but to stick it out together. Our schools truly are on a island. We have been pegged as in between schools. I saw where someone posted the schools that are now in Conf USA. Can we really afford to turn back? Conf USA really has become the Sun Belt. Even if the BE has become Conf-USA it still is a better option for us imho.
Why don't you reload with some Bball schools in the South? Charlotte and ODU. Would those programs want their Bball in a nBE with Memphis and USF or would they want their Bball in a crappy C-USA? If Conf-USA doesn't allow that, so be it. Go with somebody else.

Add UTEP and Tulsa for football and Bball, add some Bball only schools, and then you let Temple, UC, and UConn play with the C-7.

West: UTEP, Tulsa, Hous, SMU, Tulane, Memphis
East: USF, UCF, ECU, Temple, UC, UConn (latter 3 football only)

That gives you a solid 9 team Bball conference at the very least. Home and home games. I still believe they can take some Bball only schools that aren't quite ready to get the football up to par. But they'd need a southern locale not to leave anyone on the island.

Once those schools defect, the C-7 backfills with Dayton, St Louis, VCU, whomever.

I'll bet right now that if UC and UConn decide to throw in with the C7 that the BE will do whatever it takes to keep them in FB..including FB only membership. Why would it not? UC and UConn have the best cards at the table if they choose to play them.

This is a very likely scenario and one that might keep UC and UConn in the BE for football for quite awhile. Hell...even Memphis might bolt with them for the C7. Stranger things have happened.

Wouldn't UC and UConn be throwing money away. Exit fees from the 16 different schools that are leaving plus whatever fee they would have to pay to get out of this league and the C7 when the move on to the big boy table.

What do you think we are trying to do? They're trying to get out. It takes time though and you need an offer. Do you suggest they just leave and go indy in the mean time?
that's easy.

Maybe...but..everything is negotiable.

X and Dayton will not be available.
My answer would be simple. All TEN schools for ALL sports until an invite to the Big Five comes. Anyone wanting partial deal with C7 etc can go pound sand. The reality is that NO ONE in the TEN Big East league is IRREPLEACEBLE.

That is certainly an option..and one I hope happens. I am not optimistic that it will.
What makes everyone so sure the c7 even want to share a conference with cincy and UConn going forward?

One of the C7 ADs (iirc, maybe it was a Pres) said as much shortly after the C7 broke off.

What makes anyone think that the C7 would not want to share a conference with UC and UConn?...is an equally valid question.
If UConn & Cincinnati did leave, I'm sure that East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, SMU, South Florida, Temple, Tulane and UCF would rather add 1-4 schools of their choosing than try to go back to C-USA (or in Temple's case, the MAC).
