I have to admit, Mister, that I thought you were nothing but a cockeyed optimist who equated propaganda with the truth, but I want to really give you credit for something.

Your post in the thread on Kasey Mahler reporting that Mullins was fired, um, cough, REASSIGNED.

You hit it right on the head. To show you the sorry state of media in the Tri-Cities, it wasn't until 10:08 a.m. that the Johnson City Press had the story.

Shades of Mike Cavan going to SMU, ay Mike White?

Surfing the net on Monday morning, I saw:

Tri-Cities Sports has something up on Vanderbilt track (WHAT?).

WCYB, who came on to the story at 10:30 a.m. or so (guess that's when the press release was sent out), has it as Mullins is retiring and will be the "special assistant to the president for athletics." I don't like that at all.

Mahler, though, deserves a lot of credit for beating out all the newspaper reporters on this story. They really do appear to be lap dogs, but that's no news. And the two TV stations can't even agree as to what the story is. And Kenny has a real reputation for being lazy and it was shown on this one.

Just dreadful.

But really, spot on analysis, Mister. The sad thing is that about the only thing that figures to change on a media basis about this is that Kasey might be moving on to bigger and better things and then the Tri-Cities will be left with the same old crap.

And that can be a major hinderence in the area, not to mention the ETSU athletic program, going forward.
