I read this article about Corie wanting to come back and coach with Huggs and I think what we may have had two years from now:

Bright, and Banks as Srs. Devan, Evans and Abdul as Jrs, Jason B as a Soph and the NCH trio as freshman.

Coaches, Huggs, Martin, possibly AK and Corie.

Hate is not a strong enough word for Nancy and the BOT

Bright would not have been here either way. He broke a campus rule, not just a basketball rule.

Should students be walking around campus with loaded guns?

I'm a gun owner and support gun rights for the most part, but this was a stupid maneuver on Roy's part.

What Might Have Been, isn't that a country song? Anyway, it was fun to play that game a while back but I am pretty sick and tired of the what if/what might have been/just think/we could have threads. LET IT GO!!!!
Win,
Not to be a smart arse, but what exactly should I (we) let go:

The thought of what Nancy took away, the desire for Huggs to be our coach, the joy of watching Huggs type of teams or the hope we'll have elite basketball in Clifton again before I die?

I would like to let it go. However, I am sick of waiting for them to devlier on their promise when the fire Huggs. Essentially, we were promised better basketball with none of the off-the-court high jinx.

I'll let it go when they deliver their end of the agreement... that or when the bengals crack back on Kimo Knee Crusher and the ortho has to use Bill's Jaw bone to reconstruct his knee ;-)

What to let go/accept?

Respectfully, I submit..

1. That Huggins is not the coach and won't be again.
2. That the players that he recruited and are not here now won't ever be here.
3. Speculating on what UC's record would have been if Huggins were the coach - it does not matter since he is not the coach.
4. Speculating on how Huggins would have brought the NCH players here for their one year tune-up for the NBA - he won't be here so they probably won't either.

You don't have to let go of your hate for Zimpher, nobody can make you do that. It borders on an obsession for some, but you can do what you want. 04-cheers
Fan,

No sarcasm intended, but:

If I am not letting go of the elite basketball in Clifton, perhaps you or others can tell us how long we should wait before we launch on Nancy, the BOT and the UC administration. How long should we wait before some of those accepting of Nancy's actions get on board the fire Nancy band wagon?

I am geniuely curious what folks think is a reasonable grace period for them to deliver on their commitments?

Is that this spring, next year, year after next, 5 years, 10 years.

Again, if folks are going to ask others to let it go, then I believe it it is only fair to ask, when others plan to run out of patience with the current Adminstration if ever?
It does not appear to me that very many are "waiting" to do anything.

We see Nancy and Mike diatribes every day on this board. Many have written them directly to express their displeasure. Attendance suffered early in the season. Funding may be down, depending on who you believe. I think the message is getting through, even if they don't want to acknowledge it.

I myself am very upset at the lack of quality (any?) information concerning the basketball situation coming from this administration. I'm tired of the "we will recruit good citizens" line.

I'm immune to the daily posts attacking Zimpher, but I'm upset by the daily posts attacking Mike Thomas. The only "bad" thing he has done so far is one line in an interview. I'd like to see him become more visible in the local media, but I'm willing to have some patience.

But nothing short of an act of God is going to bring back Bob Huggins. "What might have been" is never going to happen.

As for how long to wait, I suggest until a new coach is hired. I think that will tell a lot about what direction this administration is taking with regards to the basketball program.
I don't understand. Banks has never put on a uniform. Neither has Evans who is still fighting a criminal case. Bright had the gun on him when Huggins was here and got kicked off of the team. Two of these three guys may never play college basketball. The recruits were getting bad and what might have been is pretty much what we have right now.

Banks wouldn't be either. Evans, who knows?

Very good point!
Agreed Fan... I think the new coach is the key. For me, I want that to be AK and let's just get on with rebuilding now. I am growing impatient with the wait till spring.

I am concerned we are getting some spic and span mid major or even Skip for that matter. I want a similar type of warrior/ player we have had with Huggs and I think our best bet is AK. I don't see anyway we avoid rebuilding in the next couple of years, so let's pull the trigger and get to it. IMO.

Agreed on Thomas, he concerns me that he has not been more visbale or articulated his vision more than the UC/21 and "good citizens" commentary. He desrves time, but something needs to happen with him soon
Now that said Fan.

I would say Nancy has thus far failed miserably, especially on the last bullet point.

Zara, what fan said says it better then I did. Feel free to keep the pressure on and critism up of the BOT and Nancy. But let the other stuff go.

Too many things had to go right for the fairy tale to happen.

Huggs had to still be coach.

Banks had to stay.

Evans had to not be involved in an alleged rape.

Bright had to carry a water gun instead of a real gun.

Herrera had to be analyzed by the same standards as all the other players already cleared by the NCAA.

Coleman had to actually have the desire to practice.

Kirkland had to have stronger knee ligaments.

The NCH trio need to actually commit.

Yeah, if Huggs is still the coach and everything else goes right........you have one hell of a lineup and bench:

PG Banks? Downey? Jihad?
SG Evans? Banks? Jihad? White?
SF White? Kirkland? Bright? Coleman?
PF Hicks, McGowan, Bright
C IJohnson, Herrera

But it has never been a fairy tale at UC. Even when Huggs was here, things never seemed to transpire the way they looked on paper.
That is final four talent.

Banks, Bright would be top players in the Big East from day one and you know what you have in Eric and James. That would have been one of Huggs best teams.
I think this was an interesting article written by Lonnie after Hugs decide to stay and not leave for WVU:

It was said yesterday, so I may as well insert it into this thread:

If Huggs was still here, along with all those guys, no way Kirk would have injured his knee 03-nerner

as the saying goes....' Those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it in the future." Yeah, let's just sit back, watch the program be dismantled, and do nothing about it. Why do you think FDR sent our great country into WORLD WAR 2 and stop Hitler? He didn't wait until hitler attacked our great nation. The UCATS and the supporters did absolutely nothing to deter the BOT from making these awful decisions. UCATS are crying now about the lack of funds. They should have stood up to the BOT and tried to stop it. It's like being the Rooney family and turning our heads to the corruption/scandals of the Steroid uses that infiltrated the NFL long ago. The common man has been forgotten in all of this. Forget it? I think not !!!!!!! We should continue in the ways of our fore fathers in this great nation of ours. Give us liberty....or GIVE US REFUNDS.

54, when is it going to sink in that it would not have mattered what UCATS said? The educators in charge of this ship simply don't care and are not beholden to the athletic boosters. They are going to do it their way and that is that.

03-hissyfit all you want. It doesn't change the reality of the situation. Sucks but it is what it is.
