Lord, please let this be true.

http://wakeforest.scout.com/2/489619.html
i'm not particularly a fan of many scout sites, but my god!!!! they did something that cbs, espn and all their ilk have failed to do!!!! they actually contacted the wake forest SID and asked if prosser had been approached by uc!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

i sometimes think that the reason the major media outlets don't do that is because it would prevent them from writing stories that are largely contributed to nothing more than rumors. on top of that, these rumors are often started (or at the very least inflated) by the same media who spins it around so the rumors sound like actual sources.

if you want to know if uc has approached prosser, it's very simple. do what scout did. call wake and ask them. you'll get one of three responses.

1. yes
2. no
3. we have no comment

response #3 does leave you where you were before you started, but i get the feeling that most in the media really aren't all that concerned from moving beyond that point anyways.
brew, did you click through to the link? They didn't contact the AD. They are reporting on what "two reliable sources close to the situation" have told them.

Unnamed sources reported by a fan Web site rate about the same on the credibility scale as any other Internet rumor on a discussion board.

No one will get a straight answer on the record, unless the coach is undeniably not interested and feels speculation is hurting his current position. Let the guesing continue!
Brew. This kind of confirms my sneaking suspicion that people tend to believe what they want to believe when it comes to this topic.
I know for a FACT that UC and Prosser have spoke about the job.
I can't say how I know this but UC and Prosser have spoken.

There is no deal in place but there was mutual interest- not sure where it stands as of 1-16-06.
Read the statement closely:

Through two reliable sources close to the situation, DeaconSports has learned that Wake Forest University head basketball coach Skip Prosser has not been in touch with the University of Cincinnati concerning their head coaching position. Though reports have come out on the contrary pinning Prosser to the job at Cincinnati, neither Prosser nor any representatives of Coach Prosser have contacted Cincinnati officials regarding this position, a position once occupied by Coach Bob Huggins.

All it says is that Skip has not been in contact with UC and that Skip and his reps have not contacted UC. Where does it say that intermediaries for UC have not contacted Skip or Skip's lawyer or reps? Maybe I am looking to closely at it. But I don't think this statement alone closes out the possibility that talks have occurred. Lastly, where is the denial concerning Nancy's lunches with Skip's wife (laughs!).

Yeah, I read it on the bearcatnews.com forum:

Nobody is going to admit having talked to each other at this point! Of course Wake (and UC) are going to deny this when both schools are in the middle of the season.

Why?
Simple.

1. Because if you do, you put the person who gave you the info into a bad position.
2. Because if the info gets posted on the internet after being told to you by a source close to the situation, your source thinks you are an a$$ clown for betraying his or her confidence in you.
don't forget - most coaches have legal representation do the negotiations for them - so that they can make statements such as this. Of course he hasn't talked directly to them - the key question is hasn't anyone affiliated with Prosser had discussions.

while he is under contract, it is not kosher to have contract talks with him. of course there haven't been discussions................................. lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao 03-idea 03-idea 03-idea lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao
They could have a deal in principle without Prosser (personally) having ever being a part of the conversation.

Or they could have exchanged nothing at all in person or by proxy.

i did click the link, but i misread it. i thought he'd said he'd contacted someone at wake and i just assumed it was the sid. i still stand by my comments about the media at large. if you want to be a successful sportswriter you need to be really good at finding unnamed sources.
UC probably didn't contact Skip Prosser and Prosser probably hasn't talked to UC. But I bet UC's people have talked to Prosser's people.

I heard Zimpher's husband talked to Skip's wife. So technically, no......Skip and UC haven't talked. lmfao
Where's there's smoke there's fire. Obviously, something is going on with UC and Skip Prosser.
I hope not that UC would be interested in Prosser. He never impresses me. Can you review his history of his NCAA tourney coaching? It is worse than Huggin's.
Yes, but he gets "Good citizens"
"Good citizen" is the one that Zim wants.

My question is should not "Inner kids" be given an opportunity to be "better citizens"? Huggs wanted to give them better ones using his own risks. It ended up in UC's image problem. He must be the best risk taker I ever have seen.

This topic, recruits, rankings, articles, etc

I bet I have made over a hundred post saying the same thing.

If skip is not hired. you will hear "we didnt want him" and praise who ever UC hires next as the next great coach.

It's like a broken record here.
