I think most of the remaining and incoming Big East schools would wretch if the conference cut a special TV deal with Boise State . . . but what about BYU?

Let them keep their ESPiN deal in its entirety, third-tier rights, scheduling concessions on basketball, Olympic Sports, etc. . . . I would say they still split the BCS Bowl money, if any, which they won't have access to anyway if they don't join a conference . . . don't know if BYU would even consider it . . . but won't know if you don't ask . . .

. . . frankly, I'm okay with it to get to 11 . . . would likely keep Navy as the 12th member starting in 2015 . . . and we're back to the best non-AQ conference . . . 03-cloud9
BYU is more attractive to me than BSU and I'm all for incentive based rewards, but I am not in favor of rewarding one team at the expense of the others. Sure I'd be open to hearing proposals

BYU would be worth it in my opinion. That would be a big time game changer my man.
I still wouldn't be willing to do much more than give them BYUtv rights for all but the nationally televised games, but special accomodations are absolutely more worth it for them than for Boise. Especially now without Boise.
What if we started a bowl on Kolab? Bet they'd be all in then!

Let's not go down this path here.
I believe a HUGE problem with the Big East leadership in this realignment process is failing to realize that they have been completely wasting their time trying to court BYU just as the power conferences would be wasting their time trying to court Notre Dame. They mistakenly thought that they could get BYU for their western division, which prevented expansion with alternatives (maybe Air Force and if not them, a Fresno State or UNLV). If they had moved on from BYU earlier, the Big East may still have Boise State and a solid western flank as equal members. Instead, the Big East got cocky in thinking that whatever the new TV deal would be would end up being enough to lure BYU (remember the asinine "They'll come crawling back to us" quote from a Big East official from ajerseyguy) even though it has clearly NEVER been about TV money for them.

BYU didn't want to freaking come when Louisville, Rutgers and Boise State were in this league. It's time to let it go with respect to BYU (and it should have been done months ago).

I agree with this. If BYU wasn't coming before, they sure as hell aren't coming now. I hope the powers that be realize this and move on.

BYU ain't comin.
No one among the MWC or Big East has ever made an offer of a sweetheart deal to my knowledge . . . Heck, I doubt it would matter; but I was asking whether folks wold support or oppose it now . . . that seems to be the starting point for discussion . . . Of course, the other thing that changed is the BCS Bowl access . . .
The only way I see BYU working in a special deal would be let them keep all home games in conf on their TV deal, NBE keeps all away games. NBE gives them no TV$$$ and takes no TV $$$. BYU gets their ESPN plus has needed content, NBE gains content to sell.
BYU's biggest obstacle was the ESPN contract, but hey, let's not let details like that get in the way of a hating on the Big East.

That, and a similar deal for Boise (and NAvy) would have been a great idea a week ago.

It's not a mere "obstacle", though. Look at BYU's television exposure over the past 2 seasons. There is literally only one football program in the entire country with better national TV exposure than BYU: Notre Dame. Better than Alabama. Better than Michigan. Better than Texas. It never made sense from BYU's perspective to move away from that ESPN contract for anything less than a Big 12 or Pac-12 invite (neither of which are coming). So, I question the wisdom in the Big East wasting any time at all over the past several months trying to get BYU. I'm sure BYU strung them along because everyone likes to feel wanted, but the Big East should have known better. They had a real chance to build out a western flank with Boise State but squandered it going after a pipe dream.

Awesome, nevertheless, BYU's biggest obstacle was the ESPN contract, not, as you like to put it, their actual interest in joining a league. We're not talking about the same thing.

Again, my question isn't whether BYU would take a deal . . . my question is DO YOU SUPPORT ARESCO MAKING A SWEETHEART OFFER NOW . . . . . . the things that changed that might cause BYU to reconsider are: (1) the access to the BCS Bowl in years BYU doesn't earn a spot in a playoff (which won't be very often); and (2) division of the BCS playoff money . . . I have been among those who posted before that BYU counts is "income from football" differently . . . but, it's always about the money, especially with the Mormans . . . will the change in the situation make BYU try to cut a sweetheart deal with a conference so that they gain access . . . don't know . . . but the questions again, is do you support the effort to get them in a sweetheart deal?

Sure about that?

Alabama's TV exposure 2012: (All SATURDAY GAMES)

Michigan in Dallas: ABC
WESTERN KENTUCKY: SEC Network
at Arkansas: CBS
FAU: Pay-per-view
OLE MISS: ESPN
at Missouri: CBS
at Tennessee: ESPN
MISS STATE: ESPN
at LSU: CBS
TEXAS A&M: CBS
WESTERN CAROLINA: SEC Network
AUBURN: CBS
vs Georgia: CBS

BYU TV exposure 2012:

Friday WASHINGTON STATE: ESPN
WEBER STATE: BYUTV
at Utah: ESPN2
Thursday at Boise State: ESPN
Friday HAWAII: ESPN
Friday UTAH STATE: ESPN
OREGON STATE: ABC Regional
at Notre Dame: NBC
at Georgia Tech: Fox Sports Net/Affiliates
IDAHO: ESPNU
at San Jose State: ESPN2
at New Mexico: Internet only ESPN3

Even with Alabama's 3 terrible non-conf home games....Alabama's exposure (especially network appearances) is much greater than BYU...and to even suggest that a team like Alabama would be "jealous" of BYU's exposure (which is still pretty good) is laughable.
No. If BYU wanted to join like everyone else...fine. Otherwise? No.
No special deals. Fed up with talking about BYU, tell 'em to pound sand, just like we told Boise.

Sounds to me like we've already moved on to targeting Freson, UNLV, etc. IF we try and stay west.

Diva schools are a cancer, we don't need that crap in our brand spanking new conference!
