Anything interesting?
Nothing to say..... from what I understand, we picked the wrong guy to lead this conference
-Brando asked about SDSU: BIG EAST wants them to stay. Great people. They're re-examining the situation. Talking regularly. Situation will play out fairly quickly.
-Did everything reasonable to keep Boise. Not willing to do certain things. Recognize their value, but unfair to overall membership to make certain concessions.
-Exit fees on Boise and others: BIG EAST feels strongly that exit fees are binding.
-Group of good schools that play good football and are developing. Good programs in BB as well.
-Current group wants to stay together. On the phone regularly, meeting soon. Expressed strong support.
-Texas schools are "very firmly committed"
-League has a good future.
-Already have a tv deal in 2013 for FB. Working on Hoops for 2013.
- Aresco quoted someone - "Difficulty is an excuse that history has never accepted"
-Brando mentioned that Jurich (Louisville) has been praising Aresco. Aresco returned the praise - said Louisville has handled everything with the utmost class and though he wished they stayed is committed to staying in the league in 2013 (as opposed to leaving earlier).
Just more propaganda.

Much stronger statement than what appeared in yesterdays stories.

The only negative rumors I have heard say he doesnt keep membership informed. Any truth to that?

SMU found out about the Tulane addition via a call after the fact.
You can't inspire unity without great communication. That's a GIANT fail on his part if true.

Please confirm. All indications are that tulane has.a good relationship with SMU
One interesting tid bit in the Boise/MWC contract... SD State has to decide by 1/21 if they are coming back....so hopefully this will end quickly.

Our football tv deal doesn't run out until after next year. The basketball runs out a year early. He has to work out one with or without the C7
UCF
Memphis
UH
SMU
USF
ECU
Tulane
Tulsa
USM

If UC and Uconn bolt the schools above could could have a solid conference much better than CDOA and arguably better than the MWC. Additionally, even with a smaller TV package you aren't splitting it as widely and our travel would be immeasurably better overall.

Everyone grows their programs with more certainty about conference membership and more equality in revenues. Also, everyone gets to recruit Texas, Florida, and the Mississippi delta/ louisiana where a lot of talent is located.

Don't panic!

I think that it's the end of Jan, but you are correct; it is a short time frame.

Good God, if that's true it's absolutely pathetic. I assume that while we don't get the full story in public, there has to be very good and frequent communication among all the members. Consulting everyone on every move...

We do, it just upset our President to find out additional members were being added/discussed without us.

I know anything 'could' happen, but UC and UCONN don't have invitations to move ANYWHERE. They were both passed over by all expanding conferences, even the ACC. The public please to 'add us' are (and I'm being kind here...) really not classy. UC and UCONN should keep that kind of marketing campaign private, so you don't actually degrade the conference you are currently IN at the moment. How hard is it to form something decent when two members are going on about how they want out? Hurts stability, hurts the TV deal, hurts recruiting... hurts everything.

I would assume we keep all members moving forward, until we find out otherwise. Frankly, we've lost just about everyone we might have expected to at this point... Form the new conference and move onward. IF we lose anyone downstream, by then we'll hopefully be well established and easily replace.
