''We worked hard with Boise,'' Big East Commissioner Mike Aresco told The Associated Press in a phone interview Tuesday. ''We explored a lot of different ways to keep them. No question. Ultimately, we were unwilling to do the things they wanted. Our membership was unwilling to make the deal the Mountain West made with them.''

The Big East couldn't give Boise that deal. Once they began that type of talk it was obvious they were going back, because the MWC was desperate enough to give that to them. The league should have never gone that far west in the first place, so oh well it is what it is.
Next will be SMU, UH, UTEP and TULSA and no BYU or SDSU...UTSA is up to round up to 16 and have 2 divisions all regional.
In related news, the Mountain West is changing the conference name to "Boise St and some tagalongs"

We are not going west. CUSA threw us a lifeline after the MWC abandoned us to the WAC. That is why I still track this board.

Boise and the 10 dwarfs..or Boise and the 10 broke dwarfs...
"The Mountain West recently re-worked its television contract with CBS Sports Network to allow the conference to sell packages of its games to other networks. The deal will allow teams that appear on national TV more often to make more money. Also, the league agreed to sell Boise State home games in a separate package.

The Mountain West also agreed to allow teams in its conference that play in BCS games and the equivalent when the new postseason system starts in 2014 to keep half the money."

If the MWC extends the same deal to Houston and SMU, I don't see how they could pass it up. Having said that, I don't believe that is a smart model for long term conference success. That same kind of greed within the conference is why the Big 12 lost Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado, and Texas A&M.
MWC's new logo will be that stupid "MW" and will now have subtext on it that says...."with Boise State".
ESPN Bronco Network???
The MAC is having to supplement NIU in the Orange Bowl, the MWC and WAC had to do supplements as well to keep their busters from losing money. The Big East has had to give supplements to some of their teams making the BCS. The 50/50 split just formalizes what people have been doing all along.

The Big XII has always paid part of the TV money on an equal basis and part on a per appearance basis.

If the MWC had been willing to do this deal before they wouldn't have lost BYU.

Brokeback dwarfs. Back to the billy goat brokeback mtn. conference.
It took awhile but now I understand the use of the word butthurt.

Y'all just butthurt.

All joking aside, not sure why all the nBE teams are up in arms about this.

Which was essentially what the Aresco Conference was going to be football wise.
