“We are undoubtedly disappointed in the latest conference realignment shuffle. As stated throughout these developments, we will continue to concentrate on the best interests of the University of Houston and its athletics department and focus on the issues we can control. We are always working towards long-term stability as our brand continues to grow with the help of a very viable market in the City of Houston, the nation’s fourth-largest city, and a great fan base. Combine that with our history of athletic and academic achievements along with the beginning of facility upgrades and we believe we offer a promising and established athletics program"

I see no statment in here that is supportive of the league. No "we have confidence in Mike Aresco". No "we work toward building the best Big East possible". Nothing very positive toward the Big East is really in this statement. In fact, neither Boise or the Big East is even mentioned. THe last Houston statement issued after the basketball schools left was at least mildly supportive. This one is not at all. Just my opinion, but I think that Houston is going to be leaving very soon. I'd like to see SMU's statement.
I don't know if I would read that much into that statement. Until we hear differently, I think Houston is committed to the BE. To be honest, I was most looking forward to playing Houston every year in the BE.
Sounds like they were making a sales pitch to another conference to me.

I may be reading too much into it, but I dont think so. This is about as negative as a statment like this can get.
Yea, that's the typical we're shopping around statement. I imagine you can get them on legal zoom
Here is SDSU's statement:

Quote:San Diego State Director of Athletics Jim Sterk issued the following statement regarding today's conference realignment news.

We have been monitoring the ongoing changes in conference realignment and are aware of today's announcement. Today's news represents a significant change in conference alignment. We will continue to evaluate the situation and make decisions based on the best interest of the San Diego State athletic department and the University overall.
Outside of the MWC, I don't see any options for Houston. The MWC has a crap deal for tv, so I don't see that happening.
These statements are always the same. "we will do whats best for our school". Stop reading more than that.

No reason for you to . . . But trust me, you're read WAY too much into this statement . . . UH may still go to the MWC. . . But this statement has no hidden meanings . . .
It basically says we are looking out for number one and we have a lot to offer a conference so give us a call. I do not blame them one bit, you guys embarked on the construction of a new football stadium with the assumption you were moving up in conference stature. This entire conference deal is a complete joke....I wish there was a do over for CUSA in this deal...Would be nice if we could all just go back to our 12 team CUSA. Things were starting to build and some nice rivalries were developing. The Big East is a freaking laughing stock...There is still a chance to build something out of this mess but they got to get moving.
Great another party heard from! Thanks Tulane! 05-stirthepot

UH was building its stadium whether or not we ever went to the Big East. . . It was a done deal long before the Big East invite. . .
Hea Houston, can we catch a ride?

Climb on . . . There is nothing that would make me happier than having SDSU on this lifeboat. . .it could be the key to keep Navy. . .and if our ship ever does come in, would love to be there when you tell Boise State . . . Sorry. 03-nutkick
Nothing at all. Nothing indicative of a move either.

...sounds good to me... heck, keep a few of the 'replacements' in CUSA - LaTech / UTSA and Charlotte / ODU, and a 16-team league of:

West:
Tulsa
Houston
Tulane
UTEP
Rice
SMU
LaTech
UTSA

East:
USM
UAB
ECU
Marshall
UCF
Memphis
Charlotte
ODU

...that would be a pretty nice league...

but, not trying to shake up the BE board...so, good luck to y'all...hope it works out well for ya...no, really!
