Color me shocked. They've been all over Downtown. A good amount of Tulsa fans as well considering how small the school is. I never knew Iowa State had a fan base passionate enough to make the drive to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl. Great for the city.
They were much in evidence tonight on Beale and in restaurants. Good for them!

The reason I am pro-Liberty Bowl even if I think the bowl system is pointless.

Also the reason why it's better for the city if the University of Memphis didn't ever make it to the Liberty Bowl.
I talked to several of them last evening before the game.
they were EVERYWHERE.

I asked how many they brought to three different people. got three different answers.
ranged between 20,000 and 40,000. Guess tv will tell the real story. But one dude did say that they bought up all the tickets that tulsa returned.
Lots of Iowa State and Tulsa fans at Bellevue Sunday morning.

The Tulsa football team entourage (approx 150 people) were at the early Sunday service. Coach Blankenship gave the closing prayer.

I was wearing my Christmas present (see below) and got lots of look from the Tulsa players.

I made sure to tell them, "Go Tulsa."
Nice present!

We saw a large table of them that had somehow found their way to Itta Bena above BB King's. Smart travelers!
There were a couple of Iowa fans at the Memphis basketball game last night as well.
I've been hearing the same. They must have brought a truck load.
Some of my best friends are ISU alumni, and they are very passionate about their school. I'm sad they couldn't make the trip.

I hear a lot of them went to the Memphis basketball game on Saturday night too. Iowa folks = good people.
Didnt see one Tulsa fan (though I'm not downtown much) but I saw a ton of ISU fans before during and after the game Sunday night and even in East Memphis. Was rooting for the cyclones for that reason.

I was downtown before the Tiger basketball game, and saw fans of both schools. A lot of fans of both schools. Good for the economy
It looked really good on TV. I hope everyone enjoyed the game, the town, and they were shown southern hospitality!
53K was announced attendance.

That is a lot of butts in the stands.
This is the closest bowl game to Iowa St aside from the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl that's about 20 miles closer.
Talked to several at the Commissary on Sunday. Really nice people. Said they were having a great time. Too bad the game didn't turn out better for them.
This is why neutral site sports events are great for cities, and Memphis should continue pursuing them, hosting them, and supporting them.
