The massive traveling horde of Syracuse brings 39k to a bowl that they have claimed for several months here they would pack if it were to come into the ACC rotation.

Man I bet the folks in Atlanta, Orlando, Charlotte, and Nashville can't wait to get in on some of that action. NY's college team indeed. 03-rotfl
Even I can't defend this one. To me sh*tty weather IS FOOTBALL WEATHER. Couldn't have it any other way. I was a little shocked at the low turnout even with the low attendance.

Especially when it's no big surprise that there was a snow storm in NYC in late December.

I could see it if it were Orlando and they were calling for freezing rain.....but WTF kind of weather do you expect in NYC this time of year? 50 degrees and bluebird skies?
They sold over 41k tickets to the game...average price nearly $100
Cuse sold their allotment.

Nothing to defend.

There were 41,203 tickets sold and 39,098 came through the turnstiles. Yankee Stadium's capacity for football is 42,000
You can't do much better than that...

Sure it is. You were one of the main ones on here talking about how great the Syracuse fanbase travels, and how NYC was 'Cuse country. Two games in the NYC metro area this season, 39k for both.

"It was cold and snowy"

Maybe y'all should have consulted this site:
NYC Weather - newyorkbynatives.com

Average High - 44°F / 7°C
Average Low - 32°F / 0°C

It's cold in December and wintry weather and snow are very possible, though the past few years have been mild. I would pack winter clothing (warm sweaters, gloves, hats and so forth), for a visit to New York in December.

The only warm year was last year...when Rutgers played and yesterday's game outdrew their numbers. Thanks for the obsession...shouldn't you be preparing the tractor for the ride over to ATL in the morning?

Everything I have seen says it seats more for football.

Give it up Mark. You dont owe anyone in this thread any explanation. SU actually win their bowl games so Catdaddy wants to talk attendance smack. 01-wingedeagle VERY, very lame.

He has already lost this discussion. For his sake, he better hope that Clemson doesnt get embarrased yet again in their bowl game. 03-lmfao

Just pointing out that yet again some bold proclimation by the delusional Syracuse fanbase that populates this board (yourself included ) was proven wrong.

Huge traveling Syracuse football fanbase.
Initial TV contract payout.
Orange Bowl payout.
Second TV contract adjustment.
NYC is Syracuse country.
Now evidently it's the capacity of Yankee Stadium for football.

It's almost like the Syracuse fans around here would rather climb a light pole and sit on their nutsack to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth.

Honestly, I shouldn't have been surprised. We are talking about this fanbase:

Same day at another school also playing an in-state FCS opponent:

But yeah, y'all are our equal.01-wingedeagle

Don't see it. Y'all made lofty projections y'all can't back up (again) and when y'all called out on it y'all start making excuses. One would figure someone from South Canada would know how to dress for cold, snowy weather. We seemed to do OK when we went to Boise.

We may very well get embarrassed. We are playing the second best team in the best division in college football and they are naturally the clear favorite. As I have pointed out multiple times over the past two years, we are far from a complete team, and we have some major holes on D that even a month of practice aren't going to help. That help will be here shortly, but not in time to help us in Atlanta.

But unlike y'all big talkers you haven't heard me on here running my mouth about what we are going to do, other than have the game against y'all in hand next year by halftime.

If you think that was unacceptable, wait until you see all 10 Pitt fans in Birmingham this year.

We'll have no excuse. I'm just throwing that out there now.

Your obsession is hilarious.

I can pull out articles too which state 42,000
http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-...son-gulley

Another one stated 44,000
http://thegazette.com/2011/12/30/pinstri...0-tickets/

It is so nice that Clemson fanbase can support 7 or 8 events a year with huge numbers. Have fun in Atlanta today...and unlike you I'll actually root for other ACC teams to win their games.
Hey Catdaddy,

When SU plays WV in a Bowl, the score is 38-14 Cuse.

When Clemson plays WV in a bowl the score is 70-33 WV in a woodshed whooping!

You'll need no excuse. Unlike the all hat, no cattle Orange fans I have never seen a Pitt fan make a grandiose claim they couldn't come close to fulfilling.
Sorry if 25k Cuse fans wasn't good enough.

We are on the upswing and still rebuilding a fanbase.

So are you going to Atlanta today?

And what exactly were these grandiose claims by SU fans?

I seem to remember saying that we would travel to Clemson better than YOU think. We have not had the chance to be proven wrong yet, have we? Getting 25,000 to a bowl is not too shabby and I bet Clemson wont do much better at their bowl today. Also, the Pinstripe Attendance this weekend was the best in its 3 year history.

Yankee Stadium decides how many seats they will open for a game.

When ND plays during the regular season, they will open it up to full capacity of 54K because Irish fans don't care about viewing the game. They are there for the experience to say they were at that game. For the Pinstripe Bowl when weather can be a factor (which has featured SU twice and Rutgers the other time), they only open it up enough for mid 4OsK.

CatDaddy, please provide a link to any post where an SU fan talked about hordes of traveling Syracuse football fans. Most of us acknowledge that we don't travel well to bowl games.

Anyway, as I recall the declarative statements, they were about SU bringing more than 500 fans to Clemson for a game that he predicted. But since I put him on ignore, there could be some posts I don't remember. 03-wink

Cheers,
Neil
CatDaddy has a real issue with Cuse fans, he literally can't bring up anything positive about Cuse other than a backhanded compliment. I've tried to reach out to him for a fresh start but he refuses.

I'd like to see those threads too saying we would bring hordes to NYC. Notre Dame and Penn State bring the most, Cuse is in the next group that bring respectable amounts. NYC is not much of a college football town. College Basketball is another story: Cuse and Duke bring the best turnouts to NYC.

I love how that "NY's College Team" gets all the opponents so riled up. Great marketing by Cuse.

Catdaddy, I will no longer give you anymore grief about the Orange Bowl game last year. Clemson has fully redeemed themselves for that most excellent game last night. I was all over my chair as the game was almost exciting to me as watching a Cuse game.

Conratulations. 04-cheers
