in the first 5 years and why.
The best long term addition IMO is ODU, but I don't know if they will have the most success in their first 5 years.
Short term I think it's easily Louisiana Tech. I believe Tech will step in and compete for titles from day one. Long term UTSA and ODU both look to have pretty high ceilings as program.
not sure about the la tech...gonna depend on their new coach and how all the underclassman can step in for the large number of departing seniors.

i would like to say north texas...but i can't come up with a reason...
Interesting question. Possibilities include ODU, La. Tech and Middle, in my opinion, with UTSA and NT long shots. Personally, I think La. Tech, with good recent success and Skip Holtz finding his way, again.
Isn't La Tech losing a lot of Seniors?
We should have a pretty good team next year, though our conference affiliation for next season is still uncertain.
do the defectors that return count as new? 04-cheers
I like the ceilings of UTSA & ODU
NT will win the West the 1st 2 years, but lose to Marshall in the Championship game both years. In football Charlotte

Being the 3rd FBS team in the largest state without professional sports, they have a high ceiling.

I think their ceiling is very high. Higher than several of the schools the Big East invited. I think ODU will be averaging 35-40k within 5 years.
What are the choices again?
I'm sincerely curious, why do you guys see Charlotte as a lower ceiling? In complete honesty is it because we have annoying fans (hell I'll admit to that) or is there something you guys genuinely don't like about our program?
Short Term - Louisiana Tech. The groundwork is already in place for some immediate impact.
Long Term - ODU. They've got everything they need to be successful once they get everything set up.
I believe that UTSA is fixing to be the most successful new program in the first 5 years. I will measure success based on who wins the conference title in those first years. #racetothefinish
Right off the bat, I think LA Tech has the best chance of the new addition to be successful in the West, but I don't know how much experience they are losing. Tulsa is really solid, and Rice seems to really be getting on track. UNT still has holes to fill and needs to develop more depth. UTSA is still too young.

In the East, MTSU doesn't start playing until 2014. When they do, I think they might be able to contend with Marshall.

There is no telling which programs will be successful five years from now. Between coaching turnover, and scandles, anything could happen.
After thinking it over, I decided this question is too difficult to answer. All of the invited schools have a strong case. The next two years should be interesting.

Nobody has said Charlotte has a low ceiling. Nobody knows how yall will turn out till 49ers get on the football field and play a game
Charlotte isn't going to do as well out the gate as ODU and UTSA. You're going to be joining CUSA earlier on than they did. Just not as much time to get rolling on the little sisters of the poor before you step up to the big boys table.
