It would have been nice to read about the game in the Sunday NEWS Sports Section -- but no mention of the game in our Cropwell edition.

Just posters of UAT football. It's the Tuscaloosa News, not the Birmingham News. They have moved the sports section to UAT.
You can pretty much forget anything in print from here on out. Sucks for Drew as well.
I love the new style. Coverage of UAB has never been better. Once you give up on an obsolete form of media.
Drew's done a really good job of coverage. I don't know that it's that much different than what Steve Irvine was doing near the end of his tenure as the UAB beat guy. He was putting up headlines and stories on an evolving basis like Drew is, though I think Drew's result in more intermediate stories (just my hunch). But, I agree with MB, the new style is certainly more timely than old media.

It's very noticeable to us out-of-towners.

Why do you still subscribe to a print edition they all but plan to kill completely within five years? And, it's not as if the News has ever covered UAB in print.

I disagree. Print is not obsolete. However, publications like the News need to learn how to use it.
can't seem to find the attendance number for Saturday's game but I thought it was a really good crowd for a cold afternoon between Christmas and New Year's without students on campus against a team nobody has heard of before.

I wouldn't say that is true!

Box score always a good place to look. 3527. Not great, but better than I expected. There is no excuse for the student section to be all but empty. Sure they are out of school, but I am sure that there are plenty who live in Birmingham and have no excuse not to support their team

I was pleasantly surprised by the attendance last Saturday afternoon. However, I don't think we have reach 50% capacity yet this season.
We here at Blazertalk live breathes UAB sports, and unlike some students of the past, too todays students, UAB wasnt their first choice.
So unless the students take some ownership of our teams regardless of records, well the attendance will be of concern until Coach Hasse and McGee turns our programs into consistent winners.
