Northeastern is a private university in Boston. Their basketball team comes into Bartow Arena this afternoon with a record of 5-6. They won their last game against Central Connecticut, on the road, by 19 points. Their best win was a 74-71 victory over 20th ranked Belmont (rankings based on KenPom.com), while their worst loss was 3-point beating by 295th ranked Maine. They also have a victory over 88th ranked Princeton.

Northeastern is currently ranked 165, while UAB is 161.

KenPom has UAB winning this game 75-71. Probability of a UAB victory is 65%.

UAB's best victory, so far, was 14-point win over 190th ranked South Alabama. UAB worst loss remains the 3-point loss to 232nd ranked TCU.

This should be a good game between two evenly matched teams, at least on paper.

Northeastern plays in the Colonial Athletic Association, where they are projected to go 10-8 this season, and 16-14 overall. George Mason and Old Dominion are in the CAA.

Senior Joel Smith (6-4 180) takes the majority of the 3-point shots. He is making 40% of them (32-79). Quincy Ford (6-8 212) takes the second most 3-pointers. He is hitting 33% (14-43). Yes, a 6-8 player has already had 43 3-point attempts.

Reggie Spencer (6-7 210) has taken the most 2-point shots, where he is 49-84 for 58%.

Northeastern is a good free throw shooting team. They have 6 players above 70%, and two of those are above 80%.

Northeastern plays their home games in Matthews Arena, which has a capacity of 5,065, which is the 232nd largest arena in D-1 basketball. Bartow Arena has a capacity of 8,500, which is the 133rd largest.

Northeastern had lost five straight prior to their last win. However, all of those losses were by less than 10 points.

Yes, they only lost to a good La Salle team by two points.

This is going to be a difficult game for UAB.
