(12-25-2012 04:25 PM)Bucfaithful Wrote: [ -> ]I think we're also seeing the effects of some overall bad recruiting classes. In the past 3 years, we've had 4 jucos/transfers (wilkinson, Johnson, Hammork, Breeze)who either never made it to campus (Breeze, Hammork) or who transferred (in spirit) by mid season. This is to say nothing of Woumn and Ward, who were questionable d1 players to begin with. Who knows who we passed on for these 6 guys? Maybe there was a raw high schooler out there who Bartow passed on out of a desire for short-term fixes?

I've ardently defended Bartow's recruiting track record, but that is eroding too.

I believe, and against hard headed opposition, I've made this point since bluenanza way back in 2009. It is amazing to me it took this long to break through the appoligist crowd. Now that it finally has broken through I can't help but wonder if they, I'm not picking solely on faithful, will at last be able to openly hold those responsible for etsu's demise?
Are you a member on the Kennesaw forums?
No one ever posts there anymore.
No convert here. The slide has been apparent for a number of years. We had sub-par teams make the NCAA tournament and people patted themselves on the back like nothing was wrong.

Equivalent to the band playing while the ship goes down.
22 you of course are absolved from my comment. You've always seen things as they are.
Nut, for obvious reasons I don't like to talk about when I think our esteemed moderator has wronged me for banning me.

But I remember when ETSU beat Mercer in 2010 to go to the NCAAs against Kentucky. This was one of the greatest days on the boards- perhaps the highest traffic they've ever received on the day prior to the A-Sun Final, people just going at it back and forth, and, of course, the writing of this fine gem of a poem by yours truly:

There once was a team from Johnson City
That played in a conference that was sh_tty
But with fortunate draws
They overcame coaching flaws
Now why is the board so snitty?

But what I can recall is watching the game, the board throughout expecting the worst, and myself going "don't worry, don't worry, don't worry." Mercer wasn't winning that game.

Anyway, I make a post like "ETSU has just won the right to get their heads chopped off" and I got banned for it.

Now, I'm sorry, but that's an accurate statement. And frankly, what ETSU has fallen to is a program that that's all we really have to look forward to in a best case scenario, whereas in 2003 and 2004 we could envision pulling a first round upset or even more (Sports Illustrated picked ETSU to go to the Sweet 16 in 2004).

In an era where VCU, George Mason, and Davidson have contended for national championships (I still think Davidson would have played for the title if they had just come up with a better play for the final shot against Kansas), I ask why not ETSU?

Why can't accurate, honest commentary be accepted on this board, that I popularized, by the only journalist who contributes?

You ask me, and this board needed a new moderator at that point.

22 is right. We've been cheerleading on this site for far too long.

The traditional media is not going to get behind ETSU. This board has got to do it. Luckily this board has proven to have enough influence over the years and we are in the age of alternative media, so I am convinced this board could lead the change needed at ETSU.

But I'm also convinced we will need a new moderator to do it.

Erase this post and ban me if you wish, Fan1.
I do agree that a change should be made. Fan1 governs the board on emotional whims.
Sorry, not gonna let you guys bully your way around. Maybe you can create another new message board. The last one you created worked so well.

Haven't deleted anything in ages anyway because this board runs much more smoothly when you all aren't here. Too bad you all can't resist the university that has so wronged both of you.
The board is not running smoothly without us.

The last one we created was sabatoged. If we are to do it, it would have to be done independently.

However, I do not see why I should have to leave the board I made.
Pretty sure GTS made the board. And by all means, create a new board. I'm sure everyone here will follow you there.
There has hardly been anything of interest on this board in two years.
But let's face facts. I am the one who led people on here with my posting. Even during my absence, I am discussed, talked about, and such.

The only reason I returned is because a poster wrote falsehoods about me, which you allowed and did not delete, and I felt I had to defend myself.

Gold is the poster who led the single-greatest moment on this board, the email campaign of support that propelled the Buccaneers to an NCAA Tournament bid.

Nobody wants to remember that. They all want to heap scorn on him. I am continually amazed how many of you are "duped" that he went to the dark side to KSU.
He did a wonderful thing, no doubt. But piling on and rooting for the university to fail now, is not in any of our best interests. That's the difference. Pitt, you wish for the university to be better. Gold is scorned and roots for ETSU to fail. I hate what happened to him, and I don't think it's fair, but no matter what this is a place for those who wish for ETSU to succeed.
In order to rise into the program you pretend to want it is necessary for the current model to completely fail. Which it is. The fact is, fan1, you do not have the stomach for what is necessary.
Wouldn't you say the current model is and has been a complete failure? It appears to me that our new president sees that. Change is on the horizon.

Please. My posting was the one that drew everyone from soconhoops.

And you know that. You know how within, what was it, a month after six months of really nobody coming on here, the board took off. You know how soconhoops within I believe a month of me posting here had, what, 1/4 of the posts that were on here.

How there was only one poster who stayed on there, stating he never would come over here, and then even he eventually did?

And you want to say that my posts, written with inside knowledge, wit, and journalistic flair, didn't bring people over here?

I'm curious. What did bring people over here, then?
I'm not certain that is the case but let's say it is.... It is in no part thanks to you.

Sorry, but people bitching on a message board is not going to get Dave Mullins fired. Dr Noland will have to be the one to do that. And I doubt he will come over here and take a poll to see what we think.
You, sir, couldn't even wear a fire Mullins tshirt into the dome in fear of losing some inside information.
You of all people know how they run things over there. I enjoy going to the games. I don't want to be banned from campus like you. Even if all the changes do get made, you still won't be allowed to go to the games. There's no win in that.
