Uhhhhhh, when I came out with the ski club in the mid eighties, we were recognized as a hockey school, that's factually incorrect again Persky.

And what facts are you using to support that DB? Just want to make sure everyone is held accountable for what they say here. 03-lmfao
04-cheers

That would be a nice start, being accountable. How about the fact that WMU WAS known as a hockey school and we were known for it before you say.

From a national perspective, WMU football and bball and MAC athletics, in general, are afterthoughts at best.

You are basically clueless.

The average sports fan in BFE, ST thinks Miami University is located in Miami, Fla.

Agreed. I'd rather win national championships in hockey than go to the Potato Bowl every year.
I think my reference to College Hockey as a "national sport" is an error. What is there now, 60 D1 teams over 15 states or so. Far smaller presence that College Baseball, Soccer, Track & Field, etc.
I'm sorry your parents never taught you to skate.

Quit with your BS takes that college soccer and track and field are more prominent nationally than hockey. College soccer players go straight to the MLS and no one cares about track other than participants and friends and family. Guys go from playing college hockey to the pros and make huge contributions immediately, see Matt Gilroy.

So let's get this straight: You want WMU to ignore the one sport that actually participates on a level playing surface nationally in favor of two sports where basically the system is rigged against them at every opportunity. Got it.

Merry forking Christmas.
Hey dumb ass, I love Hockey. I've had season tickets for 20+ years. My point is that it's just not a national sport. How many states have college hockey teams?

Only the industrious states.

The redneck "red states" are all in about football and receiving more federal money than they provide and pretending that they want the government out of their lives. Just leave the money.

Who cares if its not national? It's still the third most valuable sport in the NCAA portfolio and it's light years beyond men's soccer and track and field. And you live in Michigan, why do you give two craps where and where hockey isn't played? Fork everyone else.
Lame premise for a lame argument.

It doesn't matter if it's "not national" which I wonder when their are games on national tv and the frozen four is turning into a bigger event each year.
When you see increasing TV coverage you know the profile is on the rise. The media know where the money is.
Speaking of national recognition -- I believe that WMU graduated 4 or 5 senior's on the hockey team and all got tryouts in the NHL. What other sport at WMU can send 100% to the pro level?

Of course it also helps to have a head coach that coached at the highest levels of the sport.
