As of today, FIU is the last team in all of FBS to find a replacement head coach. Wisconsin just hired Gary Anderson from Utah State, leaving us last. A lot of rumors floated around yesterday saying it was Manny Diaz, DC from Texas, but apparently he has withdrawn his name from consideration after interviewing. Many FIU fans are adopting the slogan "Butch or Bust," but at this point I am just very frustrated. Every day that goes by we are losing time to recruit. I just wanted to keep you updated with FIU's progress (or lack thereof) in finding a new coach.

Who do y'all think would be a good fit at FIU?

Quick edit: I forgot to mention that now Utah St. has no coach, but we have had this position open for a while now.
I don't know WHAT Pete Garcia is waiting for. You are right about the recuriting thing.

Any word on what Soured Manny Diaz on the job? I thought he would of been eager to get his first HC gig back home in Miami.
I always say it.... Chris Scelfo.

It was a courtesy interview.
Tommy Bowden- He went 11-0 and ranked 7th in the nation with Tulane.

Danny Rocco- HC at Richmond, was HC at Liberty, has a carrer record of 55-23.

Willie Fritz- HC at Sam Houston State. Has taken SHSU to back to back national title games.
I hear Tommy West, Steve Buckly & a few others are avalible....
I never thought getting rid of Cristobal was a good idea, and it's starting to look more and more questionable with each passing day.
Cristobal was a good coach. Mistake firing him.

Jim Leavitt, gave birth to USF and currently working in NFL under Jim Harbaugh. He wasn't fired at USF for performance issues.

Geoff Collins, yeah you guys should know him. Brief stint as FIU's DC, currently at MState. Fantastic recruiter!!!
Glad Manny didn't take the job.

That would have been a very good hire.

He would have recruited the hell out of SoFlo.
Firing Cristobal is the dumbest thing youve done as a program.
Jim Leavitt is an asshat...but the man can coach. FIU should consider him. jmo.

I have to disagree, the man is an awful coach and it would be a horrible mistake for FIU to take him.

While noone else is looking - you do also realize our record vs. Leavitt and that we're playing FIU the next few years, right?
Why was Cristobal fired in the first place?
Nobody wants to work for the man that fired Cristobal and hired/fired Isiah Thomas. Someone will eventually take it, maybe it's Butch Davis, perhaps Derek Dooley. Mangino and Friedgen are available, too.

Pretty sure FIU will hire a "name". That seems to be the Modus operandi of AD Garcia.

He could hire Watson Brown or James Franklin. I also hear Andy McCollum is out there somewhere.

'Ole Watson had a rough year at TTU.

Didn't I see where East Tennessee is going to add football ? If so, Congrats !

The email from Athletics said this:

"Cristobal was head coach at FIU for six seasons compiling an overall 27-47 record, including a 3-9 mark in 2012."

We had the most talented team ever last year and went 3-9. I agree that MC did a tremendous job with the state of the program that he took over and deserved another year, but last year was downright bad. Apparently our AD wanted some assistants/coordinators fired, but MC said no. That didn't go over well with the AD. There was also multiple rumors that MC and our AD didn't get along at all. Thus this is the perfect chance for our AD to hire his boy, Butch. We'll see...

I think he had some very good assistants. I'll leave it at that.
Mark Snyder is out there looking for a job.
