I agree! Win or lose, I'm glad Dantin is getting this start. Good luck AD and team!
+1 go Austin, do the damn thing
Hm... Well, send him out with a start. I really hope this is just a salute to AD and a way to keep Utah State on their toes. Owens has clearly proven he's the better quarterback.
Would say he earned the start with the way he played against Akron. They were not the best team around - but he did a great job of looking off defenders and hitting guys who were wide open. Owens had been throwing poorly into covered receivers over his last three games. Has the better arm for sure, but it's still all about making good decisions and getting the ball to a guy who is open

:iagree:
It will be nice to have the completion % Dantin brings but if the USU LBS are as good as advertised, it will be nice to be able to go over the top. The shorter routes might not be there.
USU is worlds away from Akron. AD is in over his head against teams of this caliber. USU is known for fast starts and a stingy, aggressive defense, so we start the guy known for fast starts throwing picks and putting the ball on the ground. The only conclusion I can come to is that TO is not near 100%. I see a long afternoon. Sorry, just keepin' it real.
Purdue was a darn good team that AD had an awesome game against. I expect he will run and pass like the guy we saw play v Big Ten caliber players..
As an "Owens guy" I would say this:
Let's not be A vs B. Dantin had a great last game, and TO has struggled under pressure. We know USU will bring the heat, and AD might just be the guy. I am sure that TO will see the field as MC sees fit, but let's be positive going into this. MC wants to win, his next job does rely heavily on this game. He'll make the right call.

Sincerely,
A TO fan
Who cares who's at QB. Just win baby, and Go Rockets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might want to check the picks that Owens threw in the 2nd half of this season. He was probably not near 100% - so it might be relative to the situation. Have to rely on the coaches to make the right decision on the guy they think is the best option at this time. Dantin has played very well against good teams - and has also not played very well against some mediocre teams. Welcome to the world of D-I sports and the MAC in general.

I just want to enjoy the game one way or the other. As long as the team gives a competitive effort - I will be happy.
I projected that UT's QB (TO) would be a more of a factor in the running game. AD may well fit that bill!
Dantin certainly appeared confident against Akron. I have all faith that I would have felt equally confident against Akron but I suspect AD will do fine. Owens seemed to regress since the EMU game. His injury certainly may have contributed and if he's not physically up to it I'm good with AD. I'd like to see Pasqual in the mix more at RB as well. If he gets 10 carries I think we can keep David F fresh and give USU a different look. He was certainly impressive against Akron. But then....

Oh, I hear what you're saying and, I agree, I think TO had been playing dinged. But, I stand by my belief that AD is in over his head against good D-I teams, including top tier MAC.

Purdue? Someone must have forgotten that Purdue was badly beat up. I was there. I was thrilled that we won, but that was a lame Purdue team. And Akron? C'mon--Akron was 1-11 this year. They lost to UMass! We could have won that game direct snapping to Pasquale all night.

I'm not one of the old Dantin haters, not by any stretch, but I do want us to win. It just really dampens my optimism to find out that TO is not starting against this team. Still glad the Rockets are in post-season play regardless. Of course I'll be pulling for the Rockets.

It was the Purdue Offense that was really
beaten up. Not so much the Defense, especially with their All-American Defensive End. Funny but NIU fans were glad to face Owens, not Dantin.
Congrats to Austin Dantin, well deserved!!! There are many who have confidence in AD's ability to run the offense and lead the team. Toledo is fortunate to have 2 quality quarterbacks as well as 2 quality young men!!!

The only good thing about this season coming to an end is that, hopefully the Austin Dantin bashing that goes on, on this board will come to an end!!!

Go Rockets and go AD!!!
We are in good shape either way... AD will do just fine... It will be up to the Rocket defense to keep us in this game...
