What is everyone else's thoughts on the Memphis vs Louisville game for this weekend amidst all this realignment stuff? What I mean is, does anyone else think this game for Memphis is now a bigger "must win" than it was a week ago?
Memphis needs to beat Louisville for obvious reasons:
1) last chance this season to beat a top 25 team (more than likely)
2) win and looking at a 4 or 5 seed, lose and looking at an 8 or 9 seed
3) rivalry game
But with all the realignment talk, does a Memphis win "help" our case at all if the BE dissolves? Louisville is already on the way out to the ACC, and we are coming in (possibly) to the nBE. A win by Louisville just says to the ACC "good job we made a good choice", but a win by Memphis says to the ACC "our newest member just got beat by Memphis, so if we expand more let's look at them".
Let's say the B1G takes two more ACC schools, and then the SEC takes two more ACC schools. Does a win over Louisville this weekend by Memphis help our case of being one of the four teams (likely Uconn, Cincy, Temple, Memphis) they go after to replace what they lose? Or is this truly/simply all about football only?
I just feel like this game is even bigger for Memphis this weekend among all this realignment and BE dissolving and what not.
Thoughts?
