I am assuming our Acting President sits in on the CUSA meetings for us. Anyone know this for sure. I heard rumblings that Robert Whitt was making the calls. Also in the midst of all the rumors, does anyone have real UAB sources who are predicting where UAB and CUSA ends up after the dust settles?

well thats just prime!
So once again, we look like we can't control our own destiny without UA controlling it.I hope I have to eat crow and Whitt knocks one out the park for us....but I figure I wont taste that for a while.
In the words of Mike Brady from A Very Brady Sequel, Wherever you are at, there you are.......
I'd think it be our temp prez not Whitt but we all know who'd be making the calls even if we already had a prez
We should have a President by the end of the year, FWIW.

2012 or 2013?

At this point, Chancellor Whitt making calls for UAB would be a BEST CASE SCENARIO.

"What? He's a ****in' BAMMAR! Why would..."

Let's face it, UAB hasn't been in control of UAB for a while and everyone from UTEP to ECU knows that. We all know that the person pulling the strings and controlling the situation is the BoT, and be it Whitt or Bryant that is where the power lies.

If UAB stands a CHANCE of maneuvering into a position where we are at status quo with circa 2012 pre-defections, it will be with someone who actually pulls the strings going up to bat on our behalf. Marchase and Mackin can talk rainbows out of their :rolltide: if they so wish, but nobody believe jack from what comes from their mouth about the future of UAB.

If Whitt is flushing us down the toilet, then we were going there anyways. If he wants to be seen as a successful Chancellor, he might wanna see what he can do to pick up UAB from off the floor.
It would not surprise me in the least if it was Witt.

An interim president is just to keep the trains running on time. He/she is not one you let make decisions with long-term implications.

Do you *know* that or are you whistling in the dark?
1. It's Witt, not Whitt
2. Of course Witt is in charge, he was in charge before Carol Garrison resigned, and Mac Portera was in charge before him. He's the Chancellor, and the Presidents report to him. If you guys have this idea that a new President is somehow going to go against the wishes of the Chancellor, much less the Board, you are highly delusional. That doesn't mean that they can't advocate for certain things, but UAB is not independent of the System office.
3. I don't see a new President being hired by the end of the year. UAB is shutting down for a week (between Christmas and New Year) and they haven't even started interviews yet.

I wasn't sure which of the 18 threads got put this in, so I decided this one is as good as any.

Memphis athletic department issued their statement today regarding the Big East. They said they don't comment on "rumors and unsubstantiated speculation"

So their response is to stick their head in the sand and pretend it isn't happening.
